    We are very disappointed with this company. We hired Family of Trades to renovate our kitchen, and to replace our patio door. . The owner of Family of Trades took our 50% deposit on May 2nd 2025 and has not started our project. We are now in the process of taking Family of Trades to court! Beware before hiring this company.

    A Family of trades provided and installed our luxury vinyl plank flooring in April/May, 2024. The glue-down vinyl was strongly suggested by Charles for the colour and durability. However, it has ripples throughout the floor and looks more like cheap linoleum than luxury vinyl. When we complained, the installer was eventually sent out and attempted to at least fix the front hallway which was very noticeable due to the lighting. He said that the install was incorrect and a layer of plywood should have been put down over the sub-floor to prevent the ripple effect which is standard procedure for that type of install. He brought it to Charles' attention prior to the install and, apparently, Charles told him to do it anyway without it and that it would be alright. Had we known that the installation was being done improperly, we would not have proceeded. Well, it's not alright and, despite numerous messages over the past 5 months, Charles has yet to come and view the result, despite his guarantee and assurances that all work would be done satisfactorily.There is still an edge that is not glued down properly and is susceptible to tearing. It seems that, once the money is collected, there is a great reluctance to correct any problems. On another note, the highly vaunted manufacturers warranty is null and void if the installation is not done to their standards. If the BBB can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Still no action and it's been 9 months since the installation. ******* ***** has not come over. I have contacted the manufacturer, XL flooring, and they confirmed that their warranty is void due to improper installtion. I sent a copy of the warranty signed by ******* of 'A Family Of Trades' showing a 2 year labour warranty and still no contact. The XL flooring company is going to contact him, although it's not their problem, to see what can be done, as they don't want unhappy customers with their product. I also have had 2 unaffiliated professional installers state that the installation was not done to industry standards and corners were cut. The next step will be Small Claims Court. We were hoping to avoid this step as we are 79 and 76 years old and could do without the hassle.

    We just had our fence done by A Family of Trades.They were wonderful to work with! They took care of our yard and cleaned up everyday. The communication was fantastic and the price was great. I will definitely use them for more home projects

    Excellent job,! I had my kitchen redone and this company did an excellent job. I even changed my mind on a few items during the **** and they happily accomadated me.
