My complaint is with the owner of Crock A Doodle Kenaston in Winnipeg. This business is a painting studio, where you purchase pottery, paint, then the company prepares and fires your work in a kiln.

I worked on a piece in studio on Saturday, July 20th for a couple of hours. A few days later I picked up the piece and saw the studio mishandled the pottery piece I paid for, over-coated it in glaze which was not dripped clean, which discoloured the item, due to negligence. I was disappointed and called the location to request a refund. I was told by an employee to bring the item back in person for a refund.

In person an employee acknowledged the issue and called the owner, Vanessa *** to approve a refund. I was frustrated to be told that the owner was not willing to refund me and instead offered coupons. I once again requested a refund. The owner told me many excuses as to why she didn’t need or want to refund me: the employees didn’t make a mistake coating it before firing (which in person the employee said is what had happened), that I must have over painted the piece many times ** * ***** *****, that she was a small business owner and could not afford the refund, that it was not her problem to reimburse me, and that it was my problem and solely mine. I could go on, but it was inappropriately handled.

Eventually the owner offered a 50% reimbursement which I accepted reluctantly as I have no use for this pottery piece in my home and I felt ill treated by the owner.

After the phone call ended, the employee apologized to me and offered to reimburse me the remaining 50% herself personally. * *** *** **** *********** ********* **** ******
