In March of 2019 BBB began investigating Attwood Recruitment Solutions
Ltd. This investigation was prompted by a scam tracker report that indicated
that employment with this firm involved employees purchasing cryptocurrency. As
this firm claims to provide employment training requiring employees purchase
cryptocurrency caused BBB to seek additional information about the company.
The now inactive website
stated that they had offices in Vancouver & Halifax. The Vancouver street
address is incomplete.
The Halifax office appears to be vacant. BBB Serving the Atlantic Provinces contacted the local Commercial Real Estate company, that leases the building at 260 Wyse Dartmouth - the address posted as their Nova Scotia office. This real estate company advised that they have no knowledge of Attwood Recruitment Solutions, however could not definitively confirm if the business ever leased a space in the building. Mail sent to that address was returned as occupant unknown.
BBB found several employment ads listed on job-boards, these employment
ads did not reference the purchase of cryptocurrency. Instead the ads indicated
that employees were being recruited for customer service, administration and
human resources.
The Scam Tracker Report included the following excerpt from an email
sent by Attwood Recruitment Solutions Ltd. "Why does our company use
Bitcoin to pay for jobs. Clients of our company are sponsors for training new
personnel so that after an internship in our company outstanding specialists in
their field would go out."
BBB urges people seeking employment to be very cautious if they are
being asked to make payments or purchases on behalf of their employers.
BBB attempted to contact Attwood Recruitment Solutions Ltd., but
received returned mail from the Halifax location & no response to the
emails sent to the email address listed on the company website.
