    I signed a contract with Shades of Colour Woodworking on September 30, 2021 to replace my existing kitchen cupboard doors. I provided the down payment of $2,900, at contract signing, approximately half of the total cost. I was advised that the doors would be ready within 2 to 6 weeks. After 14 months, I still had not received the doors.On November 30, 2022, the company offered an alternative solution, indicating they would paint my existing kitchen cupboard doors. This offer requested that I provide an additional $500 to confirm the order, despite the fact that they had my $2900 deposit for over a year. I initially accepted the offer on the telephone; however, after thinking about it overnight, I communicated with them that I did not want to proceed as I had lost faith in their company's ability to complete the order.. At that time, I requested that my deposit be returned. I had absolutely no confidence that they would follow through on the order given my experience with them. In January 2023, I hired a lawyer in an attempt to resolve the issue. The lawyer advised the company in writing that they had repeatedly misinformed me about my rights to request the refund. The letter made reference to the Consumer Protection Act and noted that their actions were "negligent, ignorant, or made with fraudulent intent". The company was given 3 weeks to respond and did not respond, despite that during a telephone call between the lawyer and *************************** (owner of company), **************** indicated that they would respond once they determined their course of action. I had planned to proceed to the ******* Small Claims Court; however, given my experience with this company, I did not, My other complaint is that this company often took several days to respond to my enquiries, what I saw as a lack of concern for their clients and negligent business practices. I have a record of every type of communication with the company with dates.
