After taking ownership of the Fairview apartments in *******, ******************** presented tenants a $5k cash offer to vacate their homes. The sentiment from tenants was that ********* wanted to terminate rate-increase restricted leases. My parents, in their mid-80s, declined ******************* offer. In July 2024, their **** unit failed. ******************** send RackAir to service the failed unit. Instead of performing a repair, RackAir removed the **** unit from their apartment, leaving them without air conditioning or air circulation. RackAir and ******************** informed us that parts required ordering, and it would take 30 days. With July and August temperatures soaring, the indoor temperature of my parents apartment reached 40C. We made more than a dozen desperate phone calls to Shoreline Properties and RackAir for updates on repair status, notifying them that apartment was uninhabitable with excessive temperatures. RackAir refused to provide status of any kind during the months of August and September and would only refer us to Shoreline Property Management. It became clear that both companies were intentionally working together to make the situation as unbearable as possible. Due to the intolerable temperatures of their apartment unit, my parents terminated their lease on 10/31/24 with proper notice. On 10/31, we surrendered the keys to Shoreline Property Management, and we observed that the apartment was ready to re-rent with a newly installed **** unit. We would like to notify the public that ***************************** is a company that takes advantage of their tenants, potentially circumventing tenant rights. We would like to make sure that the public is aware of the actions of this company and that RackAir supports these unconscionable business tactics.
