1 star* ** ****** **** ********* ******* Canadian Home Improvement Credit Corporation (CHICC) due to their failure to uphold contractual obligations, lack of transparency in billing, refusal to provide proper communication, and continued attempts to collect payments despite the disappearance of their partner company.
CHICC Financed a Contract with what appears to be a Now-Defunct Company (******* ***** *******)
My agreement was originally tied to ******* ***** ******* ******* ***** ******* is now unreachable—their phone number is out of service, and they provide no means of contact.
Despite this, CHICC continues to charge me without acknowledging that the service provider is unreachable.
******* ** ******* ********** *********** * *** ***** ********* The contract included annual maintenance of the equipment. In five years, I have not received a single maintenance visit.
When I finally requested service, I was told I might have to cover the costs myself—but no one could confirm how much.
CHICC financed a contract where a key obligation was never fulfilled, and now they refuse to acknowledge this as a valid reason to cancel.
Lack of Transparency & Ignored Requests for Communication
CHICC has never sent me a single invoice or billing notification in years, making it impossible to track payments.
I have repeatedly requested a phone call to discuss my concerns, and each request has been ignored.
Their refusal to provide transparency or even speak with me directly is unacceptable.
CHICC’s Business Model Enables ********* ********* CHICC partners with third-party vendors who make ********** promises (such as annual maintenance) but then disappear, leaving customers trapped in long-term contracts.
When the vendor vanishes, CHICC continues demanding payment as if nothing happened, refusing to take any responsibility.

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience with Canadian Home Improvement Credit Corporation (CHICC). What started as a simple water heater rental agreement has turned into a nightmare of poor communication, unfair practices, and ********** tactics.
We signed an agreement in April 2021 and set up pre-authorized payments, which were successfully processed until December 2023. Without any notification, CHICC stopped withdrawing payments, and we received no bills or communication about changes to our account.
In August 2024, we proactively reached out to inquire about the lack of billing, demonstrating our good faith. Instead of appreciating our initiative, CHICC's representative, Junior P. responded with threats of legal action and demands for a full buyout of $4,858.24.
Despite our consistent payment history and attempts to resolve the issue, CHICC has:
Failed to provide a clear explanation of why payments stopped being processed.
Refused to consider resuming regular monthly payments.
Not provided requested account information or copies of alleged communications.
Threatened legal action without attempting to resolve the matter amicably.
The customer service, particularly from Junior P. *** **** ************** *** lacking in basic courtesy. When we requested to speak with someone else, we were ****** informed that we had to deal with him exclusively.
******* ********* ****** ** ** ********** ****** ********* ** customers who are trying to fulfill their obligations. They seem more interested in forcing expensive buyouts than maintaining long-term customer relationships.

Dear Mrs. ***** Regarding this matter, we thank you for your correspondence and apologize for your negative experience so far. At CHICC, we value all our customers' opinions and strive to deliver excellent customer service at every opportunity.
As you are fully aware, Canadian Home Improvement Credit Corporation “CHICC” is solely a finance company that does not engage in door-to-door sales, manufacture, warehouse, service, or merchandise of any heating and cooling equipment by any measure.
CHICC does not directly enter into agreements with customers; instead, it purchases such agreements from parties engaged in renting or leasing home service equipment.
It is CHICC’s practice to carry out administrative duties regarding the Agreements for billing and finance purposes. In addition, please note that CHICC does not service, install or remove home services equipment, nor does it supervise, direct, or control any such installation or removal.
According to our records, on April 4, 2022, you entered into a Rental Agreement with ******* ***** ******* for a HEPA filter. *** installed the filter at your property, municipally known as ****** **** **** *** ******** Ontario *** **** and electronically submitted the Agreement to CHICC for funding.
CHICC approved such an application and commenced billing you and securing its interest in the equipment accordingly.
Regarding the cancellation of the rental agreement, we received an email dated April 14, 2022, requesting the cancellation and removal of the Hepa filter. As noted above, CHICC does not remove any equipment. Therefore, we forwarded your request to ***. Per our records, they attempted to contact you to discuss and resolve the matter.
On the morning of April 18, 2022, *** confirmed that they received no removal or cancellation request from you. However, the same day, the *** manager contacted our office to advise that her team was able to contact you and address your concerns. The *** manager confirmed that the customer would not put a stop payment as she decided to continue with the contract.
We relied on *** statements to bill you accordingly. You have been paying for this rental agreement for more than two (2) years without further contact, dispute, or complaint.
According to your records, the equipment is still located and installed in working order at your property, and you are enjoying its benefits.
For clarification purposes, CHICC did not take part in any negotiation or resolution of your alleged dispute/cancellation request and was not privy to what was disclosed, or the information exchanged between ******* ***** ******* and yourself. Therefore, we cannot accept (after 2.5 years or more) your cancellation request without any written response or confirmation of your negotiations with ******* ***** *******, as we already requested from you, and you refused to provide.
We can confirm that we have a valid and enforceable contract with you. If you have a written acknowledgement of your negotiations with ***, please provide us with a copy for our reference and records. Without such information, we will not be able to assist you in resolving this matter.
Thank you,
Canadian Home Improvement Credit CorporationJ. K.

I cancelled my contract by phone, and with an email.
Your “dealer” told me an installer would be in touch to arrange the removal of the equipment, and to fix the holes that they had cut into my ductwork.
Your “dealer” never called me back, do the equipment has been sitting in my basement, unused, for 2.5 years.
Cancellation in writing, is my responsibility. Which you acknowledge.
Period.
The equipment, was never installed properly. That is why I cancelled the contract, in writing, which you acknowledge.
Furthermore, I did not need to finance anything. Lol!
I was under the impression I was receiving a good product, and paying to have the maintenance every six months, to a year.
I am gathering the necessary phone logs, to prove multiple contact with your “dealer”
You acknowledge the email, so no need to prove that.
Also, your company called me several weeks later, telling me that you had lost my void cheque, snd could I please issue you another. I laughed and said, I cancelled my contract, so no, I will not be issuing another void cheque.
(meanwhile, you had already taken a payment out of my account)
That followup phone call, was a great **** to ensure that I didn't check to see if you had cashed my cheque.
Nice try.
Once I have my documentation, and pictures of the improperly installed equipment, I will launch litigation.
Where I will be suing for my lawyers fees, as well as all monies you have fraudulently removed from my account, plus interest.
You have one last opportunity, to reimburse what you have taken *** *****.Review fromLorne S

You responded to an Ontario Green Savings marketing campaign, which resulted in the execution of two (2) rental agreements for a tankless water heater and a furnace on November 22, 2021. The equipment was installed at your property on December 1, 2021. *** submitted the contracts to CHICC for funding, and CHICC acquired full rights to the contracts.
Contrary to the statements on your communication with the BBB website, according to our records, you received a copy of the two (2) contracts, which have the terms and conditions printed on the back of the document. Furthermore, the agent gave you full disclosure/a copy of all related documents at the time of the execution of the same—for your records.
Per the Delivery and Acceptance certificate dated Dec 1, 2021whcih is fully executed, the Furnace and the Tankless Water Heater are located, installed, and in working order at your property. Therefore, you have been enjoying the benefits of them. As you are aware, the old equipment was not for storage but for disposal by the supplier. CHICC does not remove, install, or service any piece of equipment.
According to our records, you are communicating with our billing department. We provided you with financial information about these contracts. We will do our best to support you as you claim financial difficulties. However, we may need more information from you. If any negotiation occurs, it will be with CHICC directly and not through the BBB.
Don't hesitate to contact our Billing Department to discuss and reach an amicable resolution for this matter. Please email *******@*****.ca as soon as possible.
