      Mr. *******,
Regarding this matter, we would like to thank you for your correspondence and apologize for your negative experience so far. At CHICC, we value all our customers' opinions and strive to deliver great customer service at every opportunity.
We would like to inform you that Canadian Home Improvement Credit Corporation “CHICC” is solely a finance company that does not engage in door-to-door sales, manufacture, warehouse, service, or merchandise of any heating and cooling equipment by any measure.
CHICC does not directly enter into agreements with customers; rather, it purchases such agreements from parties engaged in the rental or leasing of home service equipment.
It is CHICC’s practice to carry out administrative duties regarding the Agreements for billing and finance purposes. In addition, please note that CHICC does not service, install, or remove home services equipment, nor does it supervise, direct, or control any such installation or removal.
On October 8, 2019, you entered into a contract with Ontario Green Savings (***) for a Furnace (the “Equipment”). On October 9, 2019, you executed the Delivery and Acceptance Certificate, which confirms the equipment installation at your property by ***. Subsequently, *** submitted the contract to CHICC for funding. CHICC acquired full rights on the contract, including the right to bill you and to register a Notice of Security Interest against the property's title. The agent gave you full disclosure/ copy of all related documents for your records.
Addressing your concerns and contrary to your statements regarding the registration of a Security Interest, per our records, the *** agent disclosed such information before executing the Rental Agreement. Furthermore, we have a copy of the fully executed copy of the Consumer Protection Ontario page stating the following:
IMPORTANT: Suppliers may register a security interest (commonly known as a lien) on the goods that you are acquiring, and they may also register a notice of security interest on the title to your home.
Before you sign, please review your contract. Ask your supplier if the company will register a security interest. This could have legal or financial implications should you decide to cancel the contract early, secure financing, or sell your home. In these circumstances, seeking the advice of a lawyer is recommended.
Also, the Rental Agreement T&C’s s4 discloses the registration of a Security Instrument.
CHICC’s agent performed the verification call with you; she disclosed our participation as a Financier of the contract. The purpose of the call was to confirm that you fully understood what you entered and whether you were satisfied with the product installed at your property. As a Financier of this contract, we relied on the documents submitted by *** to CHICC electronically, along with your responses to us via telephone.
According to our records, you were in communication with our Customer Service Department. If further clarification is needed, please do not hesitate to contact our office at your earliest convenience.
      Thank you,
      Canadian Home Improvement Credit Corporation.

My encounter with CHICC Financial (since 2019) has been nothing short of a nightmare, leaving me utterly frustrated and disillusioned with their services. Attempting to cancel a service and remove a lien from my property has turned into a harrowing ordeal, highlighting CHICC Financial's abysmal customer service and lack of **********.
Upon contacting CHICC Financial to initiate the cancellation process and remove a lien from my property, I was met with an endless labyrinth of bureaucracy and in**********. Simple inquiries were met with vague responses, and attempting to speak with a knowledgeable representative proved to be an exercise in futility.
Navigating their customer service channels felt akin to shouting into the void, as emails went unanswered and phone calls were met with perpetual hold music. When I did manage to speak with a representative, I was passed from department to department like a hot potato, each one more clueless than the last.
It became painfully evident that CHICC Financial lacks the organizational structure and communication skills necessary to handle even the most basic customer inquiries. Instead of providing clarity and assistance, they only served to exacerbate my frustration and exacerbate the situation.
To make matters worse, the process of removing the lien from my property has been needlessly protracted, with CHICC Financial displaying a shocking disregard for timeliness and efficiency. Despite providing all necessary documentation and complying with their requests, progress has been agonizingly slow, if not entirely stagnant.
In the end, my experience with CHICC Financial has been an exercise in futility and exasperation. Their in**********, lack of communication, and overall disregard for customer satisfaction **** **** ** **** ** ****** *** ** ******* ****** ******* ********** **** **** ***** ********* ******

      Dear Mr. ********,
We would like to thank you for correspondence, and we apologize that you have had a negative experience so far. At CHICC we value all our customer’s opinions, and we strive to deliver great customer service at every opportunity.

In addition, please note that CHICC does not service, install or remove home service equipment, nor does it supervise, direct, or control any such service, installation, or removal.
Contrary to your statement, on December 18, 2022, you entered into a Rental Agreement with Ontario Green Savings (OGS) for a Tankless Water Heater, not with CHICC, we are just the Financier.
Your account with us is under delinquent status. For further clarification, the Consumer Protection Ontario page clearly states that you may cancel this contract within 10 days after the execution of the agreement; you did not exercise that right. Furthermore, you did not cancel this agreement within 1 year of the execution date.
In December 2023, your bank account was frozen, and we were unable to process your payment. Since then, we have attempted several times to reach you at the phone # on file. Regrettably, your voicemail has not been initialized. Then, we sent you an email advising you about the delinquency on your account.
On January 25, 2024, we sent an email addressing your concerns and provided you with a resolution for your file. Regrettably, we have not received a response from you.
I am confident that we can reach a resolution without further delay.
      Thank you,
      Canadian Home Improvement Credit Corporation.

      ***** *** ***** ***** **** ********
I signed an agreement with ******* ***** ******* for a tankless water heater. They were backed by CHiCC (Canadian Home Improvement Credit Corporation). I wanted to contact ******* ***** ******* for annual maintenance only to find out they are permanently closed. Great, well maybe i can just buy out the contract and be finished with this bad agreement. So I called CHiCC and no one answers the phone. The message directs you to email them. I emailed their billing email address to explain that I was interested in buying out the contract, suddenly they were more than happy to communicate. They responded in less than 2 minutes.
They sent me an invoice within a minute and directed me to send payment to their address in Mississauga but I could not even get a name of the person who was on the other end of the email. I asked why I can’t call and speak with someone and was told the company is having issues with their phones. After requesting to know who I was speaking with, I was told the persons first name only. They instructed that once they received payment, they would release the lien that was put on my house (which I knew nothing about). I have a big issue sending money to a company and have no communication with the company besides some emails with someone who hesitates to identify themselves only by their first name.
The vagueness of this company is what worries me most. I am willing to pay out the contract but considering CHiCC put a lien on my house without letting me know is proving they won’t act in good faith.

Mr. ******, you were not the party engaging in conversations regarding this matter. All correspondence was exchanged with ****** ******. She requested a copy of the buyout to be paid as you were selling the property. CHICC received the payment, terminated the contract, and discharge the Notice of Security Interest. Furthermore, we provided you with a copy of the Discharge for your reference and records.
We confirm that we do not have any present or further interest on this matter.

Total lack of customer service. No one answers the phone number listed even if you leave a message. As another person noted, they hide behind emails. Try to get servicing for the equipment.

This company sent paperwork indicating a "rental agreement", it did not specify the terms of the agreement in any paperwork. They then installed the equipment immediately and placed a lien on my house. I am trying to remortgage my house and due to proprietary reasons they refuse to postpone the loan in order to complete the mortgage and are demanding a buyout. No phone interaction, they hide behind emails and refuse to reconsider and do what is best for their clients interest. I feel they are ***** ******, not client satisfying.

My mother had to close her bank account and open a new one, due to fraudulent activity. As POA, I tried in vain to contact this company, but they never answered their phone. I finally tracked them down to forward my mom's banking information. The correspondence started through email on Aug 1. Finally, after several emails, I was able to forward her banking info on Aug. 9. I received an email stating this would be forwarded to the billing department.
Just yesterday, my mother received a notice from CHICC saying her account was in delinquency and it was her final notice as several attempts had been made to contact her. They told her in this letter to "govern herself accordingly."
First off, NOT one attempt was ever made to contact her. Not once. No phone call attempts and she has no internet or computer. ***** ***** ******* *** *********** ********** ******* ** ******* ***** *** *** ******* *****. They had all the information they needed, but someone on their end wasn't doing their job.
But their letter to her was very upsetting and almost threatening to her. She called my sister, who is also a POA immediately, very upset.

      Ms. ********,
We want to thank you for your correspondence, and we apologize that you have had a negative experience so far. At CHICC, we value all our customers' opinions and strive to deliver excellent customer service at every opportunity. We will take this opportunity to address your concerns.
Please note that we disagree with your position. If you call our number, the recording message says our customer should email us, which you did. On August 1, 2023, we received an email from you asking several questions about this contract. However, you never mentioned that your mother's account was compromised and closed. We knew this until the financial institution advised us that the customer account was closed.
Our system automatically generated the collection letter and mailed it via regular mail.
On August 9, 2023, you emailed us a copy of your mother's new banking information. Our accounting department updated this information accordingly.
On September 25, 2023, we got your email about the collection letter emailed by CHICC. The same day, we responded to you advising you to disregard the letter as this was issued before we had the opportunity to receive and update the new banking information.
I hope this clarifies your concerns. If you need to discuss this matter in further detail, please email us at *******@*****.ca
      Thank you,
      Canadian Home Improvement Credit Corporation.
