      1) Door-to-door solicitation of water filter is prohibited in Ontario, this is exactly what they did.
      2) Was promised various incentives and promises of saving. None of this is true...In fact, my utility bill went up after installation. I received no subsidy or deduction to my bill.
3)Called to cancel within the cooling off period but was told I should wait for a few months before the savings appear on the bill. Nothing happened and no one called me (even though they said they would).
4)Sent them a letter by registered mail but receives no reply and was later told that they didn't receive it. It was a registered mail, there is proof of receipt.
5)Sent them an email asking to cancel but no one reply.
6)Called them to cancel, no one answered.
7)Warned them about stoppage of payment and did so. Then, I get a notice that they register a security on my house.
8)The interest is still accumulating as we speak.

**** ****** ** ****** * *** ******. Promised rebates and savings. A Heatin/Air company that installed the HEPA wouldn't answer the phone for service. I called before the 10 day cooling to get out of this and they offered free Heating and A/C protection! Wow..what a deal. Except the Heating/Air company never comes. I ended up replacing the furnace and a/c myself. Two years later, I went to refinance my home and CHICC had a lien on my home. They wanted me to payout the HEPA for $5000.
I paid it just to get out of this horrible deceitful contract.
I now have no Heating And A/C protection and $5000 loss for this ****** $500 HEPA air filter.
CHICC is buying these contracts off of sketchy heating and air contractors without due diligence and feeding off the poor consumers who are unaware.

I have no business dealings with CHiCC whatsoever, yet this company sent a letter to my household dated 2022/11/15, contract: *****, saying that "******** *** ***. has announced it will end its Open Bill Acesss program as of December 31, 2023. This program allows companies such as CHICC to include heir charges on customers' gas bills. This ******** decision was made as the program doesn't align with their long-term strategic priorities. Therefore, it will be required to change to Pre-authorized Payment method, "PAP"....and so on. The letter asks for a voided cheque to be sent to CHiCC or chequing account information to avoid billing disruptions.

We entered into a contract with CHICC in February 2020 for both a furnace and a tankless water heater at our elderly mother's house. Both were installed properly. The contact was for 10 years of payment. We were assured that there would be no problem if we needed to buy out early at any time. Due to our mother entering a LTC, we indeed had to buy out in June 2022, after 2 years and 3 months of payments. We expected that the present value of the contract would be calculated -- of course with some reasonable penalties and fees applied. Our emails to the company went unanswered, and we had to have the lawyer handling the house sale contact the company. We were shocked that the amount of the buyout was extremely large (as others noted, seemingly around 3x the actual cost of the equipment). On further calculation, it seems like the buyout amount included all the future interest that would have been payable for the entire ten year duration + closure fees and discharge fees. No present value was calculated. That amount was completely unreasonable. We chose not to start up with the company so as not to jeopardize the house sale (I assume CHICC was counting on this. Upon examining the contract, it seems like no buyout value was originally specified -- leaving it to the company's discretion (which we unfortunately trusted). If CHICC would provide us some reasonable goodwill refund, given this situation, we would be happy. Otherwise, we must advise prospective customers to stay away from this company with a 10 foot (or longer) pole, unless they are 100% certain that no buyout will ever be necessary.
