    Dear Sir or Madam:

    I am writing this letter regarding a service I received from Joshlyn M., owner/contractor of Interior Design Studio, Junk to Jewels, located at * ******** *** *** *********** ******** *** ***.

    I hired Joshlyn to decorate my small den. I paid $2,350.00 for the following services to design and decorate my den.
    $ 100.00  consulting fee
    $ 400.00  designer Fee
    $ 300.00  room paint
    $ 150.00  paint supplies
    $ 1,400.00 Wooden Ceiling

    Total costs: $ 2350.00 (excluding furniture/transportation costs.)

    Any outstanding monies owned for the total project were paid on August, 25th, 2022.
    Prior to beginning this project, I was shown a picture from the internet of a room that included a wooden ceiling and it was my expectation and understanding the cedar ceiling installed on my ceiling would be as well thought out and constructed as the picture presented to me. The end result is very different from the picture below. The design is the same however the workmanship on my ceiling is a total disaster. It is not acceptable for the following reasons:

    1.The room is unfinished, the trim ends and does not go around the room therefore the room is an incomplete project. – not finished.
    2.There is white paint splashed on the cedar wood in more than one area.
    3.There is pink paint on the white trim on the closet door – therefore there was no clean up during or after the project. Example, white paint on Cedar Wood ceiling/ white paint on the pink walls/ pink paint on the white trim of the double closet doors.
    4.There are nails that are randomly hammered into the ceiling causing an unfinished and unprofessional look to the cedar ceiling Nails are randomly placed where there are steel studs underneath the wood and plaster, therefore there was no ***** ******** ** * ********** ********* *** ****** ** *** ******* *** ** effort to rectify the situation at the time of construction. Therefore, leaving an unfinished look to the cedar wood ceiling.
    5.The fire alarm is not positioned correctly, creating a safety issue – cannot change the battery. The fire alarm and sprinkler are not up to Fire Code and this includes the work around the fire alarm and water sprinkler. Trim around the fire alarm and water sprinkler are rough in. There is no clean up along the trim.
    6.Cracks between the boards in the ceiling allows the possibility of moisture damage underneath the wood, and this includes the white trim along the board and the ceiling.
    7.The wood is not properly finished – example the joining boards are not properly prepared for painting – not puttied, leaving visible lines and cracks where two boards are joined.
    8.White paint on the trim is uneven, spotty, and streaky, ******.

    These are some but not all the issues concerning this project.

    Below is the picture I was shown at the beginning of the project.

    I contacted Joshyln via ********* and expressed my dismay and dissatisfaction with the final outcome of the project. Joshyln was well aware of some of the issues concerning the room when she finished the project, however, she did not reach out to me to offer a time or date to come back and fix them until I messaged her stating my dissatisfaction. Only then did she say she would address the issues – she offered to repaint my room – and gave me two dates in May that were available. *** ********** ** **** **** **** ***** *** **** ***** ** ** ****** ******* I did not hear from Joshyln again regarding her plans other than painting the room.

    I sent two registered letters to Joshyln, one requesting the final invoice which I had not receive and one making a list of my issues. This is what she asked me to do, make a list. I also asked for money to compensate  of $2000.00 dollars for the taking down of the ceiling, the repainting of the room and the labour that I have to pay to do. Joshyln has refused my offer stating that she is not willing to pay a contractor to remove her work.

    I look forward to resolving this issue in a meaningful and respectable way and finding common ground so we can resolve this issue.
