March 5, we needed a tow truck on the side of a highway late evening due to hitting a deer. The first tow driver couldn't figure out where we were even though we were giving him directions and receiving direction thru dispatch as well. Finally showed up and refused us because he "had a phobia to blood" there was no blood on our vehicle. Left us on the side of the highway, 10 p..m. in winter. The following tow operators that arrived over an hr later were terrific, courteous and helpful.

We broke down on a cold night. No storm, no special events, in the middle of the city. They said 30 minutes after 45 minutes they another hour. The fact that we were freezing like crazy and it was now past midnight didn’t bother them at all. We got lucky and a non CAA tow truck drove past us and offered us a tow. He said that CAA only pays a tow truck driver $20 for a tow and so nobody wants to do it. He said they rescue thousands of people a year from CAA. By the way, the automated call for our tow truck driver came on my phone at 4am!! Four hours after we initially called CAA. This isn’t the first time they have taken forever on a tow but it will be the last time. ***** ******** ********** *************

I have the CAA membership and have CA as my insurance provider for my home and auto. We’ve been with them for a couple of years and never had an issue with them taking their payments. We recently had our car stolen, and engaging them for help through the claims department has been absolutely abysmal. There is zero communication, they are not forthcoming with any information, they are also not looking to put me as a consumer first. I have had to escalate to multiple points and I’m still not getting any luck. The whole mantra praying the customer for us, and total satisfaction is absolutely not the case. * ****** ****** ********* **** ** ******** ***** *** ********* **** ***. They have good rates which are competitive against the market, but when it comes to actually getting things done through the claims department, it is just not worth the time.

      CAA Auto Insurance
I bought a new truck in 2021. While sitting at a light waiting to turn I was hit by a lady who ran the light and hit me on the driver's side.
As a result my truck which was less than 5 months old and had less than 10,000 km on it sustained extensive frame and axle damage. Because I bought extra insurance through **** and had full replacement insurance I felt confident the insurance company would do the right thing and write the truck off taking everything into account.
Was I ever mistaken? Not only did they patch it back together, they expected me to drive a vehicle with a confirmed bent frame stating the bend was within their tolerance level. I had 2 independent frame and alignment shops say the bends would cause problems for as long as I owned the vehicle.
I then gave all reports to CAA adjusters and reps asking them to write it off again but they refused stating they were re-fixing it. Now the repair wasn't $20,000 it ballooned to $39,000.
      The end result CAA hides behind government protection and regulations paying out as little as possible even to legitimate claims. ** * ***** **** **** ******* ***** ***** **** *** *** **** **** ********* ****** ** **** ********* ******* ***** ****** *** ******* You want an insurance company that stands behind you and want to help you.

      * ***** *** ********** Winter, when you most need CAA, will disappoint you. Two hours waiting for a call back on Sunday evening. It was -10. I called for a ride home and left my vehicle in a parking lot. When they finally answered me, I asked for a morning tow. "Estimate of 10 am But call back to confirm. 830 won't be busy. We will likely answer right away." I called at 0835. The message said estimated call wait was 5 minutes. The call was answered 75 minutes later.
Imagine you are out of town and your vehicle breaks down. Now imagine waiting for hours on the phone in the cold, expecting that CAA will come to your aid. What options do you have? Call your own tow truck? Stay in a hotel and hope CAA comes through? That's why you pay for CAA. Needless to say, we will not be renewing our membership. ** **** **** **** **** ***** ***** Extremely poor service, not reliable.
