*** **** ** ** ******** ** *** ****** ****** I called and spoke with her regarding the total amount due on my loan application before I signed. She told me that it "was confusing and seemed high" when I asked about the total due over 60 months. Explained that her manager needed to approve bi-weekly payments and that she mistakenly added monthly payments but this would be corrected and not to worry about my total. She told me to "go ahead and sign" and this would be rectified. I tried to immediately contact them and was told they would only speak over the phone, despite my application and previous communication being done over email. She added a $4000 product to my loan without my consent and when I phoned about what that was, she told me I was looking at my interest charge. **** ** * ******** *****. I was **** to and ******* into signing something that was untrue. These calls should be recorded and I should get my money back *** ***** **** **Fairstone

Hello ****** We are sorry there's so much confusion related to your account. All of the details of your loan are in your loan contract. Because we want to ensure all costs are clear to you, we outline them in the Loan Summary on page one of the document. You can see an example of the contract here: ******************************************************************************** The loan summary highlights all costs, including: Total of Payments Including Interest, Cost of Credit, and Other Products Purchased The additional products - loan insurance and home and auto coverage - are entirely optional products. Opting in to this coverage doesn't affect your qualification for a loan in any way. In order to opt in, you must select and sign for the product specifically. It is not applied without your signed selection. If you did opt in, they would appear in the loan summary under Other Products Purchased. Furthermore, these products can be cancelled at any time by connecting with your branch team.Your branch team has reached out previously to address your concerns but has been unable to connect with you. If you still have questions or need any support, please give the branch a call and ask for the Branch Manager. They will be able to assist you and they are aware of your concerns.Review fromTrish D

********* ** * ********** *** **** ******* ** **** **** *** * ******** ****** **** *** ***** I bought a bathroom at ******* ***** through their financing program. My first issue was an approved credit that they took 8 months to apply to my account. When my final payment was one day late because I was still waiting for my credit I was billed the full interest amount which was over $800. This is also after speaking with one of their agents and explaining the entire situation.I was then instructed numerous times to send information and proof of payment to a Fairstone Credit Supervisor whose name *********************. I then left a number of messages with this so-called credit supervisor to discuss my account. He didn't even have the *************** ** decency to return any of my calls. His only action was to put his ***** claim into collection. Now that I have a collection agency pestering me daily I will be looking at what steps I can take against Fairstone.Fairstone

Hello *****. In overpayment scenarios, the balance may be put on a temporary hold or applied to an outstanding balance on the account, but this process should never take 8 months and we are very sorry about that. Your comments will be provided to the team to review in the context of our processes so we can continue to improve. If you are interested in filing a formal complaint, please follow the process outlined here: ***************************************************************************************************************** If a credit exists and is being processed, this does not pause the conditions of your existing plan. Your financing agreement outlines the terms and how interest is deferred but will apply in full if the balance is not completely repaid by the end of the promotional period. If payments are not received on the account, it will of course be sent to Collections.Review fromKen P

** * **** * ****** *** **** ***** *** ***** ****** * ***** ******** *** **** ****** ** ** **** ******* ***** ******* **** ********* ********. My experience with Fairstone was stressful. I bought the furniture from *****, using finance program and they told me to pay the money by mid July 2023, so there wont be any interest or other charges. The Payment Due Date on the statement was July 12, 2023. I paid full amount by July 11th and they charged me 32% interest for the money and they said expiry date was July 5th. When I talked to client service at Fairstone they **** **** *** did not listen to me. They introduce new term and called it Plan Expiration Date and did not have an amount to pay by the expiration date. It is misleading to have multiple dates on a statement, without clarity on the amounts due by each date.I will never, ever deal with Fairstone *** **** *** **** ** ******* **** ** be very careful.Fairstone

Hello ***. We're sorry you feel misled. The details of your financing agreement are outlined extensively in your contract. We appreciate your feedback, and we're happy to note that we are currently working through some updates to the statement content and format that will hopefully address any points of confusion.Based on your comments here it sounds like you had a plan with an interest deferral period. With these plans, you won't incur any interest charges as long as the full balance of your purchase is repaid by the expiration of the promotional period. If this is your only financing plan, that expiration date would be your 'Next plan expiration date,' meaning the deadline to make that payment in full to avoid incurring interest charges. The amount owed by this date is the full balance of your purchase. However, there are two types of these plans. One requires a minimum monthly payment, while the other requires no monthly payment. If your plan requires a monthly payment, this is due in the amount and on the date noted in the top right of your plan statement. Failing to meet these terms will result in the accrued interest applying to your account. If you have multiple plans active simultaneously, or are paying on multiple purchases at the same time, your monthly payment date *** not align with your plan expiration date. This is why the plan expiration date is highlighted on your statement, to ensure you are aware of the deadline and make any required payments ahead of time.More information on your monthly statement document is available here: ************************************************************************Review fromSreekumar N

Hello Sreekumar. It's very disappointing to hear how unhappy you are with our services. We work tirelessly to design products and services that meet the needs of our customers and we apologize for our failure to meet yours. It sounds like there was a miscommunication, and that what was likely intended was a comment like 'pay by July' based on the expiry date you mention. Whether or not this was mentioned, the expiration date of your promotion is noted clearly at the top of your monthly statements and your interest rate is outlined in your financing agreement. The one you sign to initiate your account. While we do not currently have a push notification set for payment deadlines, there is a notice on every statement you receive about your next plan expiration date. You can see a sample of this here: ************************************************************************Review fromKeegan L

Hello *****. We apologize for the unsatisfactory service you received and we take your feedback on that very seriously, but other claims made here are entirely false.Providing your SIN is encouraged because it can sometimes provide more detail on your credit report, but it is always optional. You are never required to provide it and can do so at your own discretion. Other personal information is required in order to evaluate your qualifications and this information is collected with privacy and security always top of mind. The information collected in your application is never redistributed outside Fairstone. We use it to connect with you regarding your account and any potential offers that *** be available to you, but we do not broadcast it publicly in any way. Your information is private and will remain private and secured with us.In regards to our rating and complaints, this is the purpose of this forum and the way any feedback channel tends to skew. We are in a very polarizing business and the situations that bring people to us are equally so. We're more than happy to bear the brunt of a 1-star rating and negative reviews from applicants and customers if it means we have the opportunity to help those in need.Review fromBarbie A

Hello ******* This information in your review is not accurate, aside from where you state that it would be inappropriate and misleading not to provide a statement. We agree that it absolutely would be, which is why statements are issued monthly on all accounts, including Best Buy accounts, regardless of the financing plan or promotion that is in place. Deception is not how we do business and we do not withhold any information from a customer about their account under any circumstances.By default, your statements will be sent by mail to the address on your account. You can opt to receive them electronically through the Purchase ***************************** portal available here: ********************************************** Monthly statements note all of the details of your account, including monthly payments or your next payment date if you're in a promotional period. Hello ******. We are very sorry for the service failure you experienced. What you describe doesn't represent how we prioritize customer care and it doesn't meet our standards of care and for that we apologize. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. It is invaluable to **.Our company and our services are absolutely not a scam in any way. The offer you received was not a pre-approval as we do not send pre-approvals. What we do send are pre-selections, which are essentially an invitation to explore our services. You are not guaranteed approval. As for credit score impacts, any formal application for funds will require a hard credit check. This check gives the lender access of all of the credit and personal information they need to make a decision on your application. We don't do hard credit checks to hurt anyone, they are a necessary part of the process that enables ** to make the most informed decision possible. While credit score is a vital part of that consideration, it is not the only factor. Having Good credit will help your application, but it will not guarantee your approval. Payment history, credit score, inquiries, usage, and more are all considered in the application review process.Review fromTony T

Hello ****. We certainly don't intend to put anyone 'through the ringer,' but the application process does require a significant amount of information in order to accurately evaluate whether a loan offer can be made, and what that loan offer can be. We understand that this can be frustrating and we are always working to innovate the process and improve efficiencies.References are taken as a back up measure to get in contact with you should there be an emergency or if we are unable to connect with you at some point in regards to your loan. It is not because we want to harass anyone. It is because we want to ensure we can reach you to provide support at any time you need it.If our services and practices do not meet your preferences, that's okay. And we respect your decision whether it is to work with ** or not. However that does not make our services illegitimate in any way and certainly does not make ** the 'scum of the financial world,' it just means we're not for you.
