In Feb, 2020, I purchased two tickets at a cost of $189.84 for a show at Hugh's Room, scheduled for Sept, 2020. The show did not take place due to the pandemic.
After waiting at least a year for word on a new date, I finally wrote and asked if there were any updates. I was told they were still trying to reschedule, so I continued waiting.
I wrote again in Feb, 2022, this time, discussing a refund. I was told once more that they were still trying to reschedule, so I continued waiting again.
In Dec, 2022, I wrote asking for a refund again, but was told, "We are offering tax receipts or performance credits however we are not offering refunds."
Too shocked to respond, I chose not to, and sent an email to a second person, explaining the situation. A week later, a third person responded to that email, saying, " ... we are unable to offer a refund we are pleased to offer either a 2022 tax receipt for the entire amount of the ticket purchase or tickets to another on of our shows currently scheduled." I wrote back that these were not satisfactory options for me, and that I wanted a full refund.
That was the last I ever heard back from anyone at Hugh's Room Live.
I wrote a few more emails in 2023, but no one responded to them.
I am unable to do a credit card chargeback, and cannot seek legal remedies, all due to time limitations which have passed, none of which I knew about. A lawyer I consulted told me that since more than two years have passed, Hugh's Room Live is legally allowed to keep my $189.84 now, and is under no legal obligation to reply to my emails.
What's happening here is that Hugh's Room knows I have no legal recourse anymore, so they have decided to keep my money, and have chosen to completely ignore my emails. They have taken the stance that I am at fault for losing $189.84 by not accepting their alternate offers, and have now ghosted me.
This situation is 100% unacceptable, ** *** **** ******** and I intend to make sure it goes very public.
