Late at night June 10th or early in the morning June 11th I went to the ** located in *****, ** where I was admitted for a cluster headache. At the time of check in, my wife verbally informed the receptionist that I am covered through the VA for full medical, but we also have civilian insurance. She was informed to NOT provide the civilian insurance, as the VA won't allow them to bill both. So in order to insure the billing only went to the VA, that should be all that is listed. And so it was. A few weeks go by, and we get a billing in the mail stating our insurance has paid their portion, but we now owe $1700. The hospital took it upon themselves to find and bill our civilian insurance information that was not provided to them. I then called the billing department and informed them this was incorrect, and I was told that since it has been more than 30 days, they couldn't bill the VA any longer. That a manager would review and respond. I have received no further communication, yet continue to receive bills for $1700. This bill should be fully covered by the VA and the ***** hospital needs to correct their billing mistakes.
