R&R kept in close Contact with ****, the complainant's husband. We did not catch the manifold on fire, the fire wall started smoking but did not engulf in flames.
The original complaint was that the vehicle had low oil pressure and that they had bought the vehicle for $250 from a driving academy and did not know the history of it. The oil pressure was reading great, so I Called **** and he said "drive it down the road and the pressure drops". To which, we installed our Oil Pressure Monitoring tool/gauge, and the vehicle's oil pressure did drop. We brought the vehicle back into the shop and called the customer, ****. During the oil change we noticed a dangerous amount of metal shavings in the oil. **** came into the office and our technician showed him and told **** that we would like to take the oil pan off and diagnose further, to which he stated "Just do the oil change and Oil Sending Unit. It was a $250 car from a driving academy. It's not worth it to put a bunch of money into it." The technician did state to **** "There are excessive metal shavings in the oil pan and if we don't diagnose further that there is a good chance the engine could cease", which he followed with saying "Just put the oil and sensor in and we will go from there". **** left the office and we did the oil change and Oil Sending Unit: In about 4 minutes of vehicle running the engine ceased. The invoice that was given to the customer States the cause of engine cease.
