    There is mold growing all through the house that I am renting from Barrington real estate company through the housing choice voucher section 8. I have been notified them since 2023. This mold has been growing everywhere, it's all over my living room furniture, my dining room furniture, in the bedroom, closet all over our personal items like our clothes and shoes. I have notified the landlord various amounts of times but nothing has been done they've only sent someone out here to take pictures and that's it. The house has piping problems in the basement and the landlord is trying to look over the fact that the price has to be replaced and keep sending people out to do patch up jobs. So from the pipes being bad in the basement and it leaking onto the dirt in the basement it created a moisture which is seeking up into the house and making mold grow everywhere. My two sons has been experiencing nosebleeds, very bad severely stuffed noses, very bad sore throats, and headaches, and rashes are starting to break out on their skin. My daughter has tonsillitis and bad headaches when she visits and I have a severely bad sinus infection and I experience very bad headaches also. I feel as though are things should be reimbursed for our things that got molded because the rent people didn't want to do their part and find the source of the mold and kill it.

    All items of concern are currently being addressed and any new issues are currently being evaluated. 

    All work orders are assigned, an estimate has recently been approved for some work to be started and other issues have already been completed.

    I kept complaining about the house not holding heat or heating up. They kept cancelling every maintenance request I sent and treated me as if I was the one being unreasonable or difficult. When in fact it was their heating guy being lazy he wouldn't even go under the house or look at what I was showing him where cold air was coming in. He ignored everything I told him and ran off his bias opinion of me as if it was a fact. Told it to the office and they believe him. Without any proof costing me my whole check to pay the light bill. The maintenance worker just assumed I was too broke to afford the bill.

    Barrington Real Estate has sent someone out to the home to make sure the air is working adequately. Additionally, an inspection of the property by a Housing Quality Specialist has determined that the property meets minimum housing quality standards as of 4/21/2025. Any issues have been resolved.

    I have attempted for over 4 months now to get the Landlord to have the neighbor remove the dogs. I have spoken with ****** reference the dog, and my daughter have spoken with ****** reference the dogs. She just say the same thing, it takes time to get the problem resolved. I am 81 years old with Asthma. The dogs are not on a leash half of the time, and p*** is left in the Yard. The lease specifically state no pets are allowed in the apartments! It shouldn't take over 4 months to give the tenant notice to remove the dogs. My daughter last some with ****** on 27 September 24. She has called and left her 2 messages on 18 and 19 November. ****** has not returned her call reference the dogs. I have been very patience with them regarding this issue. But now the neighbors has 2 dogs instead of the one in the beginning. They even have one of them tied to the pole right outside of my apartment at times. This is unacceptable! Had the landlord given them notice when I first complained and there was one dog, they would have never got a second dog! I pay rent just like the others, and my rights under the lease is being violated! The law states that it is the Landlords obligation to enforce the dog rule, just as of it was a slippery side walk, or a unsafe step.

    I do not want the file closed because the problem is still on going. They asked me to to send photo of the dog. I did that. Their response was if I see the the dog to call animal control, and they are still working the situation, but can't give any details. I will call animal control, however, until there is a resolution, I do not want the file closed.

    Details about the legal process with which we are using to handle the situation with the other tenant will not be disclosed, but the issue is being handled. There is a legal process that we must abide by and we are doing that. Please close this complaint, the issue is being worked on.

    I am rejecting this response because: I am not asking the business to give me any specifics on how they are resolving the issue. I have told them that repeatedly. If and when the issue of the complaint is resolved,  then the case should be closed. As of today the issue is not resolved! Why close a case when you are still working to get the issue resolved! Doesn't make sense!

    I had got an maintenance man out here twice to fix the socket in my bathroom, and the man say he couldn't fix it. I wrote them a letter telling them about the problem, and it's been over two weeks and I have not heard from them. I want someone out here to fix this socket in the bathroom. The green light only comes on when the light is on, and when it's off there is no green light. It needs to be fixed so I can use the socket in the bathroom.

    I am rejecting this response because:


    I have put in a complaint about the socket in the bathroom need to be fixed, and they still haven't come to fix it. When they were supposed to fix it, they said it needed to be two or three people to help one maintenance guy. Still haven't fixed it. Now, I have problems with the hot water tank that is gas and have a gas leak that is endangering my life. That can blow anytime. I have called the fire truck and spire out here. This passed on Saturday at about 3:30 because I smelled gas. Someone was supposed to come out Monday on Labor Day to fix it, and nobody ever came. I have placed an order and wrote them a letter. I have left messages with the company and my case worker with housing authority to let them know what is going on. It need to be fixed, or I'm moving out, and I want all my money back that I have given them. They have the hot water tank boxed in when it should be a door, so if anything happens, people can get into it. The socket doesn't work with light off, which is crazy.

    We are writing this as a response to the letter received about a work order complaint. All work orders have been dealt with and there is no health or safety issue in the home. The outlet in the bathroom is wired to the light switch and it turns off and on when the light is off. When you are not in the bathroom and the light is not on, there is little need for an outlet to work. However, the vendor is still working up an estimate to rewire the plug since this appears to be an inconvenience to the tenant, estimate is forthcoming.

    It would be much more productive to have all work order issues dealt with in the office as opposed to the tenant filing a complaint with the BBB each time they need to submit a work order. This is counter productive. Any future issues can be dealt with through our front office or our email **************************************************************.

    The entire apartment complex has no water utilities connected and it has been this way for over twenty four hours. Apple st apartments has a private water supply that is not operated by the Birmingham Water works utilities company. On Friday July 7, 2023 the main water supply breaker was turned off, shutting off the water supply to all apartment units. I have been informed by Birmingham Water works company that my apartment unit is not listed as a valid location therefore, I can not get water services from the city. I told an agent at Barrington Friday but nothing has changed, we still all have no water. The water utilities are paid to the property management company.

    We just took over management of this property. We sent out a request to ********** Water Works to have the water transferred into our name at this complex. However, the previous management company must have submitted a request to have the water disconnected, rather than allow it to transfer directly to our companies name. The moment that we discovered that it had been disconnected instead of transferred, we had the water company go right back out and reconnect the service. This issue was resolved as quickly as possible.
