This is the second year I have used Harris Accounting and Tax Service to do my Federal and State taxes. When I went to pick up and review my completed tax forms I found that they had omitted some tax adjustments and they said that they would fix the issue. They did, but when I again reviewed the documents I found that they had now added paperwork for a mortgage deduction that was not mine. When I mentioned that to them they fixed the problem and I told them to file the taxes. This was the end of March, ********************************************************************************************************** 4-6 weeks. When the refund had not shown up after about 7 weeks (the middle of May 2025) I contacted them again to find out exactly what day they had filed, and could not get an answer. I was told that someone would call me back, but repeatedly no one did. It took me 7 phone calls to get someone to call me back and tell me about my taxes.I was told that the taxes had been filed the day before this call. That is, the taxes, which I was told would be filed at the end of March 2025 were not filed until May 12, 2025, almost a month after the end of the tax filing period. And the taxes were only filed then because I was trying to find out about my taxes and that made someone look up my filing status. That is, a company whose business is doing tax returns failed to file my return when told to do so.This kind of behavior is simply unacceptable and now I have to deal with the ****** as someone who failed to file his taxes on time. And, after failing to file my taxes, I was offered no compensation like a return of my fee, only an apology. People need to know that they can not depend upon this company to file their taxes on time.

We did make some errors which we corrected. Shortly after Mr ******** picked up his return we were hit with ransomeware which delayed some processing including e-filing returns. We filed it as soon as we were able.

The companys response, that they filed my tax return as quickly as they could, sounds reasonable, but it does not fit the facts as I understand them.I finalized my review of my taxes on March 27, 2025, told them to eFile it and was told that they would do so. Since this was almost 3 weeks before the tax filing deadline there must have been many other tax returns completed after mine and needing to be filed, also after mine. When I had not received my refund by the second week of May I started calling to find out on what date my taxes had been filed. It took me 7 calls over 3 days, May 11 - May 13, 2025, to finally get someone who would give me that information and I was told that my taxes had been filed on May 12, 2025, the second day of my sequence of calls and almost a month after the filing deadline. I was also told that I was the only person whose taxes had been filed late in the last 3 years. Since my taxes were filed on the second day of my 3 days of phone calls the only reasonable conclusion is my calls had made them look up my records and realize that they had never filed my taxes and then to do so belatedly, so the idea that they filed my taxes as soon as they were able does not bear examination. Had that been true then it would also have been true that everyone elses taxes to be filed after mine had also been filed in May, but I was repeatedly told that I was the only person whose taxes they had filed late. In addition, had they realized that they could not file my taxes in time, they could easily have contacted me so I could have filed for an extension. They did not do that and they never let me know that they had missed the tax filing deadline.People and companies make mistakes and while I was upset I understood that. What did I expect? Harris Accounting and Taxes is a small company and I thought that I was owed a phone call and apology from either the head of the company or, at least, from the manager of the office, and I thought that since they had not done what they were expected to do, I thought I deserved a refund of my fee. I got neither. They had a junior accountant call me and even she was reluctant to answer my actual question - on what date were my taxes filed. I had to repeatedly ask before I got an answer. While I am upset about the late tax filing, the first time in my life I have missed the tax deadline, I am just as upset over their claim that they filed as soon as they could since that is clearly incorrect. They filed only when my calls made them look up my records. I would warn others that, given what happened to me, they can not depend on Harris Accounting and Taxes.
