On October 14, 2020, BBB investigated Ocean Project's business practices. This investigation was prompted by consumer complaints. These complaints shared concerns regarding the business failing to fulfill orders, respond to consumers, and honor their guarantees.

BBB sent an email to Ocean Project asking the business to address and provide BBB with the following:  
 
- Details regarding how the business honors its satisfaction guarantee and other policies
- Details regarding how consumers can reach the business
- Details regarding how consumers are notified of their order status
- Details regarding any affiliation past or present to any company including but not limited to Wildlife Mission and Wildlife Mission Co.
 
BBB also sent the company an SBQ (Standard Business Questionnaire) form to obtain more information on the business, its structure, management, etc., however the business failed to return the form.

Additionally, BBB requested Ocean Project to modify, substantiate, or discontinue claims on their website that read, "Tracking Number Comes with Every Purchase"; "30-Day Money Back Guarantee" and "24/7 Customer Service"
 
BBB's Code of Advertising Section 1 states, advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request. Code of Advertising Section 20 states, when using the term “warranty” or “guarantee” the advertiser should clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty can be seen prior to the sale which could include putting it on the seller’s website.
 
As of October 30, 2020, the business has not responded to BBB's request.
