November 2024, called Republic Service to put our trash removal on hold for six months. Paid last bill. March 2025, called to request termination of services entirely rather than just a hold. Told curb dumpster would be picked up at no charge and someone would call to schedule that pickup. No one ever called. I called back, to ask why no one had called a week and a half later. They said trash service was reinstated in March. I said trash was to go from hold to termination, no bill and you were to call with date for pick up of trash dumpster. They sent me a bill. Ive not had trash pickup since November of 2024. I called again today to restate everything from November of 2024 and said Im tired of making calls regarding a simple hold to termination so no bill and to pick up my trash bin. They were to pick up April 7 and no one picked it up and billed us for service. They scheduled pickup of dumpster again for March 2. Wanted to know when Id pay bill. I requested hold to termination and have never requested you restart service. I dont owe you anything. Your internal miscommunication is not my problem. Ive not used service since last November when we put it on hold. She transferred me to Wednesday who could help me resolve this issue to get the invoice credited saying that empty dumpster bin would now be picked up May2nd.Wednesday said hello *******, I can help you get this issue resolved. I said great. I then heard, Republic Services is now closed. I was then disconnected. Ive called Republic service since March to move our service From hold that was on since Last November and a permanent termination and empty bin pickup and multiple individuals since March. Ive had to repeated call in same regard on phone for 45 plus minutes each time with their representative saying they would correct the invoice and the issue. Their internal miscommunications and incorrect restart of service thus producing a bill I dont owe is still not resolved.Business Response

We have reviewed the complaint submitted by ******* *********. We did attempt to call ******* and left messages on her voicemail. After reviewing the account, it appears the account cancellation was processed 4/1/25 with a removal set for 4/7/25. We scheduled a "no charge removal" for the 7th, but when the driver went by, the toters were not set out. The customer was charged $60 for loss of toter.
We regret any inconvenience the customer may have experienced and strive to ensure every customer interaction reflects our commitment to quality and service. We have credited the account down to a zero balance and the account is now closed.

I have been fraudulently billed by Republic Services for trash pick up at my property at ********************************* After 6 or 7 calls to try to get the collection calls to stop (that I do not owe as I paid in full for one full year) no one will help me. It's just a run around or a "manager will call you back" which they never do.The quote was $1300 and change for 1 year 4 cans. I ordered in November, after another 4 calls, still no cans end of Dec I reached out to the City Manager of *********** Island ***** ***** and said hey man this is the only provider of trash pickup these guys keep saying "cans delivered" I have none -he said let me make a call. I received cans end of December. Not before. Now I get calls every 72 hours saying I have an unpaid bill of $600 something - how is this possible? I paid for a full year should be paid Feb 1 2025 to Feb 1 2026 or roughly this. I am about to go in front of full City Council and ask for a RFP for a different (or other) options on ****************** for trash service at *****. Your company is incompetent and fraudulently bills. Phone **** agreed yes we see issue but see service "started" when you called in november.. Oh yeah? Well why was I having to take trash from 4 apartments to my office dumpster. I called they offered $129 bucks off some $600 bill. Your ********, billing cycles make zero sense. Now she says I owe $280 some bucks makes zero sense I was told one year 4 cans $1259 I somehow only sent $1200.I owe $59. That's going November "something" to November "something." (dont know exact dates)The reality is, I owe you Dec 20th when I got all 4 cans to Dec 20th that's my service for $1259. There you go. Let's make that happen so I can send you the $60. Otherwise, come get the cans. I am not stopping however I have owned a business and own 11 homes on the Island and this won't end here. Stop playing games with peopleBusiness Response

Spoke with the customer on 4/28/2025 to address his concerns. First of all, his concern about the carts, a credit was issued due to late delivery of carts. The credit was applied immediately on the balance owed so the customer was able to only pay the difference, $206.00. Secondly, the customer was also informed about the calculation of the annual billing. Due to the startup services in November, a prorated invoice covering November 2024 - February 2025 was issued in November 2024. The next invoice was generated in February 2025 which covered the next annual billing cycle (March 2025-February 2026) per Citys Contractual agreement.Initial Complaint

I ordered trash service to begin in January or February. The agreed price was approximately 30$ a month for weekly trash and recycle pick up. This company continually forgets to pick my trash up each week. Call them several times a week to inform them, they say they will send a truck to pick it up. They never do. They charged me more then the agreed amount and even threatened to send my bill to collections before it was ever due, for three times the amount agreed on, and for a service that has yet to be regularly rendered! I continue to call them each week to correct it, they never do. How is this company still in business?!Business Response

We have been attempting to cancel our business service since February and have still not been able to do so. I called the company in February to cancel our service as of 5/8/25 (in keeping with our contract terms). After speaking with two different people, I was told I had to speak with our account manager, ******* General, who informed me that we needed to send a letter by certified mail to cancel the account. We sent the letter confirming the cancellation date of 5/8/25 and received confirmation with **** that the letter was delivered. I followed up with ******* via email confirming that the letter was delivered. He did not respond to my email, but I did receive an out of office message so I know the email went through. We just received an invoice billing us for the entire month of May. When I called customer service to change adjust the bill accordingly, I was told that our account was still active and there was nothing in the system about a cancellation. Again, I was told that I needed to speak with ******* as he is the only person in the entire company who can cancel our account. Of course, he was not available today so I was told someone would contact me tomorrow. I have no doubt that we will get hit with more fees before this is over. All I want to do is cancel our account and receive a correctly prorated invoice. It shouldn't be this difficult.Business Response

My trash was supposed to be picked up Tuesday Not only he showed up late, he was screaming at me, 2 paper bags were on the floor as fell off the trash can from wind( tornadoes) and I physically picked up( tried to) so he can take them. He screamed at me, would NOt give me his name. He started videoing and I just came from work and I should have video taped him. I am at awe how rude this worker can be. I spoke with ***** and we are delivering her a 2nd trash cart and we have talked to the driver about making sure to be courteous to customers. Was contacted by Republic toward the end of 2024 by a person with a phone number attributed to a different solid waste company. She stated Republic required us to sign a new contract (last contract was 03/20/2019) and I explained to her that we had intended to call to negotiate the price as it had gotten out of hand. She was very short in her response that there is nothing to negotiate and that we needed to sign a new contract. I told her I intended to look into other companies then, and her response was for us to contact them again in March, and that we would then have to provide a written statement via certified mail. I called back in March multiple times, was placed on hold, and was then either told I needed to be transferred then disconnected, or just disconnected without ever having line picked up. I can't send a letter if I can't get the correct address to which I could send the letter. We simply want Republic to cancel our service, not charge us any fees for stopping service, provide a few days' notice so we can get a service provider who is not rude or unreasonable in pricing.Business Response

I have used Republic Services for the last 5 years. When they first provided services to my company, I was asked to sign a ****************************** 2021. Well as my prices have been going up every year since, I decided to cancel service with them. When I contacted my account manager **** *******, I was advised that my account "auto renews" and there will be a $926.04 cancelation fee for breaking the contract. I asked if there were any way to negotiate this number as this was a Auto Renew, and I was unaware of this and was told no. I think this is a shady business method as I was completely unaware that this contract auto renews. I would never recommend this company for this very reason. It is sad that they have such good service, but the contract they ask you to sign has small print and nobody tells you about this. I am a small business with 3 employees and every ***** counts! They don't seem to care at all about unhappy customers, or sub par customer service.Business Response

Republic Services has spoken with ****** ******. Customer wants to cancel with no penalty and share a dumpster that his neighbor has. Republic Services has a service agreement in place that is valid per the terms and conditions.
We offered to lower his rate and to help him out short of letting him cancel without penalty.
Customer said he will continue to pay the current rate and has marked on his calendar with the date his contract ends and will cancel services at that time.Initial Complaint

We pay for a service and had to sign a contract if I remember correctly, which Republic Service is in violation of. We pay Republic for a dumpster and for it to be dumped every 2 weeks. It has not been dumped and they are refusing to dump it. We are not behind on our bill. They took the original dumpster we had and replaced it with one that has destroyed part of my yard and part of my peach tree. My wife will not pay another bill until the service we already have paid for is provided. I can provide pictures of the yard now and how the yard was previously.Business Response

I called the third week of March and cancelled my account which was pd in full til april **** told me they would pick up my receptcles last day of the month and were going to charge me to pick it up then they charged me for services because they did not pick up the trash bins til April 3 and charged me for the pick up of an empty bin they make it look like i was irresponsible about and have a late charge on me for the bill. My mom died in May of 2023 and she was a Republic customer for probably around 20 years. I called them to cancel my service because it is so expensive (another company quoted me $300 less a quarter). The representative realized that my elderly mom had been getting charged for two sites (her address is the same so they charged her twice for the house for years). It's not clear on the bills that this was happening. He wrote to management and assigned me a case number (that I put in above). This was last week and no one has contacted me to follow up (I called them on Friday). They need to reimburse me for all of the years they were double charging her and me. From the nature of the complaints on your website, it appears billing issues are not uncommon with them. I need the money back that my mom paid, and that I paid for an additional site. I am disgusted that no one else in the company ever addressed this with her over the years, or me.Business Response
