I have been a customer of ******************** since at least August 2021. My service agreement states that I should be billed quarterly, but I recently discovered I have been billed monthly for a period of nearly four years.From June 2023 to May 2025 alone, I received 24 monthly invoices totaling $4,560.44, which should have been 8 quarterly invoices. This overbilling results in a confirmed overcharge of approximately $3,000 for that period. When factoring in earlier months I cannot access (August 2021 through May 2023), the total estimated overbilling is over $6,500.I called Republic Services and was told the issue was escalated to my local office, with a promised response by 5:00 p.m. the following day. That deadline passed with no call, voicemail, or follow-up, and I was not provided a contact person or reference number. I sent a formal email on 5/14/25 , but have still not received a response.I am requesting a full account audit and a refund check or credit for the overbilling. At this time, I am filing this BBB complaint to seek resolution after multiple failed attempts to resolve the matter directly.Business Response

In recent months our trash for our neighborhood has not been picked up at times even for the entire week. On April 8, 2025 I received a text message saying our pick up time has changed and to have our cans out by 5:00am and give us till 5:00pm each day to service you. Our trash was supposed to be picked up on Monday, May 12 2025 and it had not been. This is a time of year when many have celebrations and to not have our services rendered that we have paid for is unacceptable. Furthermore the weather is warmer and having trash sit around attracts bugs and animals. My neighborhood is ************ in *********** IL. I ordered trash service over 3 weeks ago through this company. They have missed 2 weeks in a row on my scheduled day and 2 other days last week when they told me they would pick up after missing. I have tried calling this company to cancel my service and be refunded since they have never picked up once. My trash bin has been full for 2 weeks. I have been warned by my HOA that my trash can't stay outside. After finally speaking with someone on 5/13/25 I was told to follow the link in an email sent. I followed all directions to cancel my account only to be redirected to call another number and wait on hold. I am not happy with paying for a service that I don't receive. I don't thinks it's right they are not refunding my money either. But, I have more important things in my life to worry about. This company sucks and I will never do business with them or refer them. After doing my research this is normal practice from this company. I would like my account closed and the date they are picking up the trash can so it could be left out.

I have already explained what needs to be done. I have called your company, and you didn't want to help originally. Now I don't have the time to deal with you or your company anymore. Please close my account and get your trash can picked up otherwise, you will leave me no choice but, to seek legal advice on this matter. I paid Rebublic to do a service and they failed. The complaint should stay online with the BBB to let others be aware of this company. Especially since Rebublic don't want to issue a refund. Period

I signed up for trash service with republic waste after not picking up my trash for the first 5 weeks the driver actually came out and stuck the forks from the truck threw my custom-made fence and when he tried to lift it tore my fence apart at the same time it was shacking the retaining wall that it attached to it by a geo grid and the middle of the wall is 3 inches away from my barn .there is no easy fix .I found a guy on the side to do the work to repair it for a reasonable price as all the other big companies were thousands of dollars more. instead the company that republic service uses for their claims sent a guy out that said it could be repaired for ****** I advised them if they could repair it properly for that go ahead. my cheapest estimate to repair the damages is 8200 dollars. they have a company called ***** ****** ******* told me good luck with getting my property back to the way it was. and it was my problem they didn't want to pay the rest to fix the damage.Business Response

I have been charged for an extra month of service and extraordinarily high removal fee.I was a customer of ********************** for almost 15 years. I tried to cancel service on Jan 11 via email to acct manager ****, with no response. Called on Jan 13, talked to customer service, was transferred to *******, who tried hard to convince me to stay, transferred to ****** who was very helpful. She got me a case number and I was told I was not under any current contract and needed minimum 30 day notice from end of billing cycle to cancel (puts end day at Feb 28, 2025), and needed approval from my acct manager, ****, who would call within 3 days. Jan 16 **** did call, she lied and told me I was under contract until 2026 and that I needed a 60 day notice (end Date of March *******). When I called her out on the lies, her ***ly was " give me a break, I am new to the area". I still received a bill for the month for March ($91.74). I cc emailed ****** and **** and told them I would contact BBB about this on March 13 if we still could not settle this. On March 14 I got a personal phone call phone a lady ( *****?) telling me they would credit back month of March and now had a zero balance. The container was zip tied closed on Feb 28 and was no longer in use. I then still get past due notices for that month. They did remove the container on April 3. I just received an email from collections charging $323.64 for the removal of a container that has been here since 2010, plus the rate for March, plus late fees (Total $413.38) I have asked for written and signed documents stating the cost of removal and have not been provided with that. I am looking for a credit for the month of March, removal of late fees, and an adjusted reasonable rate for removal. I could chare them a storage fee of their container for the month of March if necessary. I believe it would be considered fraud for my acct *** to tell me I was under contract when I clearly was not as had been confirmed.Business Response

I have been a customer of ******************** since they purchased Reliable Disposal. I was a customer of Reliable for over a decade. Late last year I received a phone call telling me my dumpster was "full of horse manure". I responded that I had used it for that purpose for 2 decades. The lady said oh and hung up. I received another call weeks later stating it was "hazardous waste". I said that's no so, we grow vegetables in it.. I inquired why suddenly this was a problem. Couldn't get an answer so they sent it to the manager. I then got a call saying they were having a meeting and would call me back. They never called. I finally got a call saying that I would have to change my service and they would send a quote. Never got any quote(probably went to spam). I received a bill with a $500 fee! I was never told what was going on. I disputed the bill and never got any information. They have now sent the account to collection. I need this resolved. This is ridiculous. I OVERPAID THEM. Dumpster removed mid February and I was paid till.the end of the month! This is insane. I have since found out that the ***** administration gave them a grant to recycle more trash. THEY NEVER NOTIFIED ME OF ANY CHANGE.Business Response

We've have reviewed this with the two sales **** who handled this and their notes. They tried multiple times to give the customer options for disposal of the manure. We apologize for the change of disposal needs. When this was brought to our attention we realized we needed to right a wrong that was processed many years ago. At this point the charge has been written off on our side.

- Trash Service Closed - Charged for ************ date twice, when there should have been 0 charges after closed account - Called to fix the problem, and they said it's because I didn't remove my bank account from their autopay (it's not normal for the blame to go towards the consumer here). Offered no answers for why they charged twice or at all. - Now am waiting for the check in the mail for the amount of double the original amount i should have never been charged for. Their system seems almost purposely bad to make it difficult for consumers and potentially extract as much money from consumers as possible. Their online system clearly doesn't work, but the workers seemed to understand it's working as expected, which indicates a scammy nature. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Upon review, we invoiced the customer in mid-December for upcoming service 01/01/25 - 03/31/25. After the invoice was already generated and the payment was received from the customer, we received a request for seasonal hold on 01/24/25, to stop services from 02/05/25 and restart services 04/23/2025. The seasonal hold was processed, and a prorated credit was provided for unused services from 02/05/25 - 03/31/25. This credit is available on the account for future upcoming services as currently this is active with no cancellation requests documented. My normal day of pick up is Monday and on 5/5/2025 they did not arrive and I had no call to alert me they would not be picking up. When I called they told me I was rescheduled to 5/6. 5/6 they did come but only took trash and not recycling. I called again. Was told they would come Thursday for recycling, No show on Thursday. Called again. Told they would come Friday. No show again. Called again, and said don't bother my regular day is Monday 5/12 and they would get it then. I did request an account reparation which they told me they did. Not sure if true - little confidence. Today is 5/12 Monday and normal day. Just got a call (on a number I've told them multiple times to NOT use and change to my cell...), and they are not coming and say they will come tomorrow. Ask me how much confidence I have this will be seamless pick up of both containers? Very low confidence, So I called their service number and after being in queue for over 15 minutes they dumped the call. I called back and same thing. What the heck is going on? All my neighbors tell me their service is much better and I should switch. Been with Republic for over 25 years and WANT to believe this is a temporary issue, but again, confidence very low. Republic trash services has been my residential trash removal company for a few years. Just this quarter i moved and decided I'll keep their service as I did once before, now these last few months they have neglected to pick up my trash and offered a discount when I said I found another company. I paid for 3 months in advance and haven't had my any services ... so I called to have the trash beens removed and they made sure it would be once my money has run out and still haven't picked up the trash bins... it is an eye sore to the new community I'm in right now and I've been dragging these bins back and forth and nothing.. so now I write yo in hopes that this will be they're last time doing to to another customer... I've called 3 times today making sure they'll pick them up the last person said they work til 6pm and it now 7:47pm bins are still at curb ...please help.. even if I don't get my money back I want them to take they're trash binsBusiness Response
