I signed up to fly with Leighnor, flew for a while, put money on account in advance for aircraft rental, and then had a series of health issues preventing me from flying. After having a stent placed in my heart, preventing me from renewing my medical (I am a private pilot) I had to drop out. I asked for a refund, and they denied me. I begged for a refund, and they denied me. They referred me to a stipulation in their "agreement" that I don't recall signing that says they can't give me my money back. I replied, and believe, they won't show compassion and decency and refund my money. There is no law that says they can't refund it and it their choice not to do what I think is fair and decent. In my mind, they stole it. I don't think anyone would sign an agreement like this if they knew and understood the details. If you die they keep your money, if you quit they keep your money, and if you become inactive too long they keep your money. This is unfair, unprofessional, and I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone seeking flight instruction or aircraft rental.Leighnor Aircraft LLC

What Mr. ******** fails to mention is that he signed up to fly with us in 2020 and essentially walked away from any contact for three years. What Mr. ******** also fails to mention is that we do give our customers additional flight credits for depositing money on account with us.
July 6, 2023, Mr. ******** asked for a full refund. Given the age of the account, we told him there would be no refund due to the age. With our money on account, if you abandon the account for more than 12 months, it's considered forfeit. We heard nothing more from Mr. ******** and the account was written off as abandoned on 9/21/2024. Mr. ******** then contacted us about continuing to fly and the account was restored on 12/23/2024.
Again, nothing further was heard from Mr. ********* nor did he make any attempt to use the account for flight instruction or aircraft rental. On 2/24/2025, Mr. ******** submitted another request for refund, with many of the same statements that are in this review about his health. We told him we wouldn't refund the money due to account age, plus there was a significant amount of money that was in credits that wouldn't have been refunded in any event. On 4/5/2025, the account was written off as abandoned for the second time.
If a customer walks away and then decides to come back, we will credit his money back to his account for the purposes of flying the money off and that credit is non-refundable in any case. We want to see our customers fly and use their money.
Mr. ******** claims he never "signed" any such agreement. Our records show that Mr. ******** signed up with us on 2/16/2020 and I do have a copy of the agreement Mr. ******** would have been provided. The abandonment policy for deposited money has been in that agreement since the company was founded in 2017. Furthermore, the rental agreement is linked on every page of our website so there's little excuse for Mr. ******** to say he was "unaware" of the policy.
My wife ****** is our scheduling administrator, and she's had more than a few interactions with Mr. ******** via email. At least a few of the later emails I would consider extremely unprofessional and some emails actually abusive.
We can document all the above statements if you so desire.Kent C

Facts can't be denied: I flew an A22 Aeroprak with Leighnor until about November 2020. The plane was taken out of service for a bent nose gear and not returned to service for a few months. Then electrical problems developed with the aircraft, followed by more issues with bent nose gear. I tracked the plane's repair process and went to the hanger to speak with people there and took photos of the stages of repair (I have those pictures). Eventually my health concerns made it clear it wasn't safe for me to fly until my health improved. At no time was I warned that my money on account would be confiscated on a certain date and didn't hear anything until my medical was expired. I decided to take the medical and let a doctor officially decide if I should be flying - I have not been able to pass the medical so asked again for a refund. In summary: The $1,319.69 in my account dedicated to ********************** rental could NOT BE FLOWN OFF because I wasn't healthy enough to fly. This is MY MONEY and Leighnor did nothing to earn it, exchanged nothing of value, and simply choose to confiscate it. They kept it and used it in their company the entire time. They claim there was a rental agreement that explained their right to take my money and sent me a copy of it. That is the first copy of the agreement I've seen and the issue wasn't addressed until PAGE 12 AND 13. I applied online to fly at Leighnor after an invitation from a doctor friend that actually owned the aircraft while we were attending a class at the hospital. No one gave me a copy of anything. No one explained this issue or warned me that the dates were coming up when I would be dropped and my money taken. They claim I "essentially walked away from contact for three years". That is false. They claim that I claimed "I never signed any such agreement". Again, false. I did not say that. I was not provided any copies of any agreement signed or not and, as I stated, I don't recall ever seeing that agreement or recall signing it. Again, everything was done online. I don't think it is unreasonable to demand that MY MONEY be returned since I can't fly, the plane wasn't available most of the time to fly, the plane and the hanger where it was kept was no longer available to Leighnor, and they took months to respond to me at times. I have kept every email and message and all documents regarding scheduling and flying with Leighnor. I stand firmly by my review and resent their characterization that, "at least a few of the later emails I would consider extremely unprofessional and some emails actually abusive." This could have been resolved very peacefully and reasonably by simply showing compassion and refunding all MY money when I asked for it. To choose to keep it causing me and my family undue stress at a challenging time in our lives was both unkind and unreasonable. I will settle for a full refund of MY MONEY and nothing else. If not received very soon, I will pursue this issue through the courts.Leighnor Aircraft LLC

*** ******** is factually incorrect on several matters. First, *** ******** claims we have $1,319.69 of "HIS" money. We do not. *** ******** placed money on account with us on 2/16/2020, 2/22/2020, 4/2/2020, and 10/30/2020 in the amount of $1,000 each time. For placing that money on account, ********************** awarded $82.50 of NON-REFUNDABLE credits for each $1,000 deposited, which totals $329 dollars. That would leave the refundable money amount in a normal circumstance of $990.69. Had *** ******** requested a refund at the end of 2020, that is the amount he would have received.Second, *** ******** still claims he's never seen the rental agreement which is also incorrect. He's signed online at least twice (7/6/2023 & 2/24/2025) when he requested these refunds. The rental copy is on the form submitted and here is the verbiage on that page: "Here are the links to both the online and PDF versions of the Leighnor Aircraft Rental Agreement which all renters are required to sign. This agreement governs the refund process and what monies are refundable."This is the verbiage on the form itself that the renter agrees to when they submit the form:"Money on account, if the purchase has been over 6 months or longer, is subject to administrative fees as outlined in the Rental Agreement you signed once you started renting with Leighnor Aircraft. Leighnor Aircraft will refund all money due the renter to the credit card on file if possible. If we are unable to refund to the credit card on file, we will issue a refund either via a ***** transfer or company check. If money is refunded to the credit card on file, it can take 7 to 10 business days for the money to appear back in your account.I further understand that all credits received for placing money on account and all referral credits will be backed out of my Flight Schedule Pro account before any refund balance is calculated. Once the money due the renter is calculated, then any administrative fees will be assessed if applicable."*** ******** signed electronically that he understood these terms twice on the abovementioned dates. Furthermore, the idea that *** ******** has never seen the rental agreement isn't feasible. The rental agreement provides the rules and operating procedures for renting an aircraft from Leighnor Aircraft. There are pages dedicated to flight operations, ground operations, prohibitions about what you can and cannot do in a rental aircraft. Our flight records indicate *** ******** took at least 11 flights in our aircraft; therefore, he had to have some knowledge of flight operations at Leighnor Aircraft. The rental agreement also isn't a secret document that we hide. It's linked on every page on our website. It is the bible of our day-to-day operations and provides the rules on how pilots do business with us and what our responsibilities are to our pilot customers. In late 2024, *** ******** obviously had some interactions with our scheduling administrator (my wife, ******), that he was going to return to flying status as money was credited back to his account on 12/23/2024. Nothing further was heard from *** ******** until the second refund request on 2/24/2025. Our Cottonwood location at all times until its closure at the end of February 2025 was a self-service facility. It is the responsibility of the renter to reach out to Leighnor Aircraft for flight instructors or information they need assistance with. To the best of my knowledge, no such contact occurred. Aircraft were certainly available from the time of *** ********** funds were restored until the facility closed.
