After being quite pleasant and agreeable during delays in my construction project, contractor demanded i agree to 20% or 30% price increases on an undisclosed amount and with no line item pricing prior to correcting their deficiencies which were holding up other trades. Contractor refused calls and email requesting further discussion. Contractor said i had requested them to delay their work when indeed the attached email requested them to proceed - It is documented where they declined to continue the work on December 31st 2021. This is well within the contract timeframe. Email also documents contractor stating the work was to be completed within 76 months of contract. We are still within that timeframe. Check the attached (2) emails documenting my request to proceed and their refusal.Call anytime ************************* ************

    Business Response

We entered into the contract with **** who was building his house.  He is the general contractor at his own property and is very familiar with the construction business. **** was never charge more than the original contract amount.  However, we explained that our contract (signed by ****) only guaranteed product and pricing for 6 months and we were closing in on 18 months.   His claim that we would hold product and the price for 76 month (6.3 years) would clearly not make sense to an average person, let alone a general contractor.  After nearly 18 months, we were losing access to the solar product we had on his contrat and prices had skyrocketed during that 18 month.  That is exactly what I explained and as someone who had spent the last 3 years building this property, this is something he would have known well.  I let him know if we did not finish this project soon the price would increase. He was able to give us a date of his building final an we agreed to move forward at the original price.   We were trying to be as patient as we could be, understanding his situation with the construction and in turn he files a complaint with the BBB.

We signed the contract understanding that construction was almost done.  In fact the roof was already one and he requested us to quickly come to get some preliminary wiring done and install some small equipment.   This work was done without requiring any progress payment, thinking we would be finishing the project soon.  Then the project went dormant. We did reach out for updates.  Contrary to what **** was saying, we absolutely needed the roof and all electrical final inspections completed before we can pass our final inspection. I explained to **** that we can come install the equipment, but he would need to pay for that piece of the project at that time.  Since he was being delayed, we both decided to wait until it got closer.
