1 starMy 2017 Hyundai Sonata Sport (65k miles) steering wheel assembly failed (the steering wheel locks when making sharp turns and I have to turn the car off an back on, which is unsafe when driving). The vehicle is at the dealer since December and the replacement part is still not available. Have been in contact with Hyundai USA and they cannot provide information on when the part will be available. The dealer cannot do anything until the part arrives. This vehicle has been at the dealer several times over the past few years due to manufacturing problems, this is not the first time, but this is the first time the car has been at the dealer for months.Review fromMarcia P

1 starI've been having engine problems with my 2014 Hyundai Electra GT since November 2023, on my way for the holidays to *******, ******* from **********. My car Begin to have no power. Wouldn't exceed over 30 mph and was making a knocking sound. I have to take it to the closest mechanic. The mechanic stated that it was my Cadillac converter oil was stuck all through it and not allowing any type of flow due to the engine. I had him clean it for $300 and later had to get a new one for $1,800. As time went on I was still having problems with the engine. I had to put oil in it every other day. As I had to make my way back to ******* on an emergency. My car began to shake, engine light was on,engine was knocking severely had no power it wouldn't go over 20 or 30 mph, steering became very stiff. I got a letter from Hyundai corporation stating that there recalls on your engine and that you qualify for the extended warranty. As recommended, I went down to the Hyundai dealership where they were to install the ksds software update in the anti-theft software update along with giving me a bearings test. They stated the bearing test have passed. Even after all that I still continue with problems for my engine.p I had my family mechanic look at it and he told me that oil was splashed all over my spark plugs valves and into my Pistons, I got it fixed for $380. Not even less than 2 days later, ******* leakage was excessive and it spilled all over my engine ruining my engine. I have not been able to drive my car since March 2024 as I still have to pay payments on this vehicle. I'm here in ********** and it's stuck out there in *******. Finally, after many attempts through phone calls and emails I got the the news that my engine is totaled, The corporate won't cover it. Stating that the issue didn't come from the bearings but they will not tell me where the issue is coming from. What made my engine start acting out when I've been taking very good care of it? Still no answers. CricketsReview fromDerrick B

1 star2017 hyundai sonata burning 6 quarts of oil by the 3000 mile change. No help ,just the run around. These engines are junk and have a class action lawsuit, but they aren't made to resolve the issues with customers.Review fromDeborah G

1 starI noticed when I returned for vacation that there where 2 little tears in my upholstery on the driver's seat. I am the only driver of this vehicle. I took the car up to the dealership on a Saturday and spoke to ***** at which time he told me about the long process that it would entail. I made the appointment for Tuesday May 7. ***** went out to take pictures of the car and the seat. (I was told that they would have to take the seat cover off to see if there was any damage to the seat itself. That is the reason for the appointment.) I texted at 3:08 and again at 3:30 because I had heard nothing from *****. Finally, I get a response that the car is ready. I was a bit confused as with these fancy new cars you know when your car has started and been unlocked, and my car had not moved for 4 hours. When I got there, I questioned that I was told that the picture was all they needed. And that they have seen that before. So, I thought all was well. That is not the case. They are blaming me for the damage done to the seat. So wrong! The vehicle has 6054 miles on it. Bought it brand new 5/2023 and you're going to tell me that the upholstery won't last. And blame me to boot. They (the service ***** stated that it was the corporate office that makes those decisions. And the ************************** states that the ****************** is responsible for those decisions. Someone is lying. Just bad business. Consumers beware. They pick and choose what the warranty will cover. I still have no resolution to this issue. I will remain active on this wrong doing.Review fromJavier A

1 starI have a vehicle that I e been driving for only 5-6 months and it died on me because of a Hyundai warranty problem. I take it to the dealership for it to be repaired for them only to tell me that they cant do this repair because of a salvage title that has absolutely nothing to do with the motor. I ask the case manager to review the case or to send me higher up the chain and he said he will review it. There is a laws suit that states in A08 that Vehicle rebuilt-no warranty EXCEPT recalls, campaigns.. that is what my vehicle will fall under. I wish that Hyundai would instead of putting someone through something like this take up to it and actually fix the problem instead of giving me the run around.Review fromAlyxandra W

1 starIf I could give this company a zero I would. I am on my second Hyundai sonata. The first one had no issues. My 2016 already has a blown engine. An 8 year old car should not have a blown engine. I took the car to my local Hyundai dealership because I was told that there was an issue with the engine in this vehicle and they would help me. It started promising with 2 oil consumption tests that my car failed both times by consuming more than 5 quarts within in less than 2 weeks and less than 1000 miles. A request was sent by my local Hyundai to get the headers cleaned which is suppose to help the situation. Hyundai DENIED it saying theres too many miles. Im not sure how manufacturing issues have anything to do with mileage. It seemed more like a way to get out of having to back their product. After receiving this news my car then started burning more and more oil going through 5+ quarts in less than a week. Also shoutout to Hyundai of ************* for misplacing my engine cover as well. Hyundai, if you can/will not back your own product why would I ever continue to support you? I now have a car I owe 12k+ on with a blown engine. Never will I ever own another hyundai period. I will tell everyone who thinks about owning a Hyundai my story as well. Theres a reason you have a 1/5 star review. Shame on you for taking hardworking individuals money and giving them such poorly made vehicles.Review fromCaveman022

1 starOil consumption test number 4, consumes over 3.5 quarts of oil every 500 miles. *** been at dealership over a week with no loaner or rental reimbursement. *** engine vibrates violently, dealership said there is nothing they can do, have to wait on corporate. They don't stand behind their warranty.Review fromSarah B

1 starI have a 2019 Hyundai Elantra that has been burning oil ever since I bought it a little over a year ago (Feb 2023). The burning oil had clogged up the catalytic converter and now my engine wont start. I add around a quart and a half of oil about every 3 days. I took it to the dealership and they asked Hyundai if they can help me with this issue and they said no because I have no warranty. Im the second owner, so I dont get the ******* mile warranty, only ******. It was already at ****** miles when I bought the car. So no warranty for me. I talked to Hyundai Motors America customer service, even spoke to a supervisor, and was told they will not be helping me. They said they will send me a letter with their final decision and an instructions on how to appeal the decision. Never got that in email or mail. Even called back to tell them I didnt get it and they still didnt send it. Now my car is dead and it seems the engine is cooked. I still owe $9,000 on it. What a nightmare. Will never buy Hyundai again and will be sure to tell everyone to never buy a Hyundai. This is a known, widespread issue with the oil burning.Review fromJana T

1 starThe paint has started peeling off my 2017 Hyundai Elantra, January of this year. I went to the Hyundai ********* center Jan 15th in **************** where they took pictures and wrote an estimate and sent it to the Crown Hyundai Services to submit to warranty. This information was supposed to be sent to warranty as a claim. 3 months later and several calls to get an update and no one had the decency to return my calls. I left multiple messages for ********************* the Services Manager as thats who the ********* Center said to reach out to as he was supposed to send the information to warranty. My husband goes in there IN APRIL and they just say its out of warranty. Really?! Not sure if anything was even ever submitted!! Why wouldnt you call your customer back, you have no issue taking their money! I then submitted a claim through the corporate since the dealership wasnt any help. After multiple conversations with the case manager she wanted me to drive to another dealership to see if they could help. I said no Im doing that since the other dealership is almost 40 minutes away she suggested going back to the dealership I went to initially to see if they would cover part of the cost. I advised I have already done that, I have gone there multiple times! After the runaround and pretending like they were going to assist I get an email saying based on that evaluation, we are not able to assist the issue with the paint even as a result of a defect in materials or workmanship. Specifically,it appears that the condition did not arise during the applicable manufacturer's limited warranty period. Hyundai needs to take care of this issue, it didnt start happening until January. DO NOT BUY a Hyundai and if you have any manufacturing issues dont expect any sort of help from them.Review fromMIAA P

1 starNeed assistance in repairing my stolen vehicle. The whole world has access to steal this vehicle/ (its all over ********* not Hyundai or any one representing this company, has been able to remove all videos showing step by step on how fast and easy it is to steal this vehicle. So this should be Hyundai's responsibility to remove all videos to the public so this does not happen to Consumers buying this Brand. This should be Hyundai's responsibility to pay for all repairs needed to my Vehicle. This company is refusing to pay for all damages done. I've been without a vehicle for over 5 months now.
