DO NOT JOIN! The only way you can quit is not make the dues payment. Not easy if you put it on a credit card. I'm going to have to close my credit card, move all the auto pays, and get a new one.
    Very shady business practices.

I had so many good memories with this group as a member. Trying to form my own, though, has been a nightmare. Due to an inadequate website, and after contacting two people at corporate, I was unable to find members for my group. My application to create a group was denied, but the funds were kept. I went through the bank after numerous emails and promises from corporate to help me find members for over a month. None got back with me about member contact information, but they did resolve the issue denying my claim with the bank. They asked me to withdraw my claim with the bank while the manager"went on vacation". If I would have known there was nobody in the area, I would not have signed up. That would have been nice to know before I paid dues, but could not get access to the members on their website.Don't waste your money on this organization. There are many women out there looking for social time.

I was interested in joining a ************* about 20 years ago. Found a chapter (don't recall if it was online or some other way) near me--the "Queen" lived only about two miles from me and oddly enough (since this is a large metro area) we had both worked (at the same time for a while) at a state agency on the west side of the ***********. I didn't join her group or any other because I decided to go to law school. So between working full-time and going to law school, I had ****************** activities for nearly four years.Last fall I decided to join a ************* so googled the Red Hat Society. Thought I might find a list of groups in my area that I could contact, go to an activity or two, and then decide if it was the right group for me. As others noted, it doesn't work that way. One has to sign up with the national group and pay a yearly membership ($30 for a general membership; more if one wants to be a "Queen") before being able to see a list of chapters. After I joined, I eagerly scanned the chapter roster. In addition to the name of the chapter, location, and Queen, it also states how many members there are. I was surprised and disappointed to see that so many had only one member, presumably the Queen. I wanted to join a chapter that already had a few members. There were at least two that were of interest so I sent a message to the Queen via the website. That was last October or November and I have yet to get a response. The national organization sent an e-mail newsletter in January and February (I assume this will be monthly). Both had pretty much the same info--upcoming trips *** was sponsoring (one of which was sold out), updates about the *** website, info about the "80 for *****" movie, as well as *** swag one could purchase.I don't plan on renewing my membership later this year. I might as well have thrown my $30 in the trash because thus far I have gotten absolutely nothing of value for it.

I joined the ************ to meet other women with the same interests they charge me $30 a year, and I did exactly as shown I would click buttons in my location waiting to join their group or Club 3 months later I still have not been accepted into any groups or clubs, and the one that the red Society has that is their own group they have never posted events or activities to attend there was more than happy to take my money but there is no group and with the list that they show of active people I do not think they're all active people cuz a lot of the groups that you can join shows only one member. They need to reorganize their business because in ******** there are no groups that you can join. It cost me $30 to find out that there's no active groups even around me and the cost of what I was so excited to buy the red hat and the purple clothing and scarves. And they say the red hat Society if you're a member you get discounts the things that you get discounts on are only in the ******************* not in Mid ******** so that doesn't even benefit ** in ********. I have even emailed them and asked if their company could look into getting the discounts for each state with items that is in their state. Got no response back and on their main headquarter website that everyone gets to be a member of I have posted an event and no one even responded back to whether or not that would be a good thing or not.
