1/5/24 called to have "broken heater fixed". Quote of ******** given. 1/8/2024 work done, heater fixed. **** paid. Receipt has explicit 1 month warranty. Six days later heater stopped working. Called the company. They came out 2 days after that. The technician seemed confused and couldnt fix heater. 6 days later a different technician came out and successfully fixed the heater. A new bill was send for ******* and they said "this was not a warranty issue". This is absurd. I called for a broken heater. They fixed the broken heater. Their repair lasted just 6 days. When I called for them to come back it took two different technicians to fix the problem and they did not exude confidence that they knew what they were doing. The heater was ultimately re-fixed. Company wont honor their warranty and want a new payment of ******* because their "employees are union and get paid no matter what.". The offered a warranty on their work and it needs to be honored. I also filed a complaint with the ***********************.

City Mechanical was contacted by us to find and fix a leak in our HVAC system in Nov 2023. They came twice and gave us an estimate of approximately $18,700 to find and fix the leak. We did not engage them; however, they sent over a bill of $922 for 4 hours of "work" and a truck fee. They never did any work and are now threatening to take us to collections. They claim that they had disclosed the hourly fee, truck fee, and hourly minimum to us and our contractor. They also claimed we agreed to this. All of this is untrue. While they disclosed the hourly fee over the phone, this was never specified to us that we would be paying them to come and provide an estimate (like how most contractors work). Also, they came twice to provide this estimate and still never even found the leak and somehow needed a "truck" to do no work. They also claim that our contractor agreed to all of these fees in advance, which our contractor has verified that he had not.NONE OF THEIR CLAIMED CHARGES OR WORK WERE EVER PROVIDED IN WRITING NOR DID WE SIGN ANY CONTRACT. If they had done so, we would certainly have looked elsewhere for a mechanic who would have provided an estimate for free. Again, we neither verbally nor in writing agreed to any of their charges. On a related note, we engaged another mechanic to find the leak, which they found within 45 min in 1 visit (and no "truck fee") and charged us less than $4000 to find the leak, fix it, and complete related HVAC work.We have not paid them anything, nor were we planning to do so. However, we need some assistance in dealing with their threat to take us to collections. Also, based on their online reviews, we believe they are engaging in deceptive practices.
