0 stars. This place is very discriminatory. The application process seems to pre screen to determine whether or not you fit for the property. Price keeps changing and no one has matching answers on rental office. And maybe they are just unprofessional rather racist, but seriously when dealing with white people who only help each other, its not to fat catcher theyd make it hard for a woman like me. Very unprofessional. I should have been told about the so called 5 people in from of me when I initially called, plus the man lied about the place even being on market as is. ***. You ****. And should be fired. Thanks for wasting my time.

DO NOT RENT HERE! I have been a customer here for almost the last 5 years. I have been at this storage facility since Jan. 2020, it was brand new just after it opened in late 2019. I have had multiple large indoor units rented a frequent regular customer here who has used Safe Nest ******************** in ******************. This facility has changed management companies multiple times in the last few years. The most recent change occurred in October of 2023 to US Storage Centers (Westport Properties.) As of the last 90 days, this location has gone DOWNHILL. 1. The SECURITY at this location is terrible. Gate has been left wide open for OVER 2 MONTHS NOW 24/7, (people have $100k+ RVs and boats stored paying $300-$400+ per month for a parking spot with terrible security. If you have an outdoor unit any person can just drive or walk right up to your unit, cut your lock in literally seconds and steal your property. No communication has been sent to customers or anything. All the front door keypad entry ways also dont work and have been deactivated for weeks. No signage posted anywhere as to why. HOMELESS people have been living at this location on multiple accounts when discovered. Reported to management and was taken care of, however now things like the restrooms are locked 24/7 even during business hours. No signs posted anywhere to inform customers on who may need to use them. All the street lights all across the property and around the back around the 2 buildings do not work.2. Employees are rude and terrible. *****, the manager at this ************** mean well, however get very rude at times and lazy. cant even turn the open sign on/off. 5. BAIT AND SWITCH PRICING: All Safe Nest Storage locations in the ***** areas managed by this company, US Storage Centers/Westport Properties practice this. They will offer you 50% off 1 or 2 months most of the time when you move in, give it a few months and you will receive a 30 Day rental rate increase email notice.

I started a rental at this US Storage location in November. Within a couple months got a notice of an increase of $57/month. a 49% increase. I called and complained and they reduce the increase to $25 per month. Just rec'd another increase notice that the rate is going up $67/month, a 47% increase. Called again explaining that since November the new rate changes represent a 79% increase. I understand costs go up and increases are expected but what they are doing feels like a bait & switch once you decide to commit to them and absolutely ridiculous. Spoke to an onsite person today who said, they have no control over the prices and we typically see increases twice a year. She also said it's a month to month and I can leave. I asked to speak to a higher level person and she said she'd send my message to the District Manager ****. I just got a call back from another person that said per **** all they can do is drop the increase from $67 to $29.50. While I appreciate that I told her this doesn't feel right overall. I asked how long this new rate would be good for and she said the increases are computer generated and they don't know about them until clients get the email. She said an increase can come through anytime between 4-8 months. I said previous person said twice a year. Couldn't explain that other than to keep checking my email and if I get email with another price increase to call back to request a review again. I can't wait to get my junk out of there and not deal with them. It's a nice clean place but this feels unethical. They know for many, it's too much effort to move your stuff and fight it and just pay the increases. Would not recommend them based on their business practices.

Beware of Safe Space Storage on *****************************. I put my earthly goods into their care on April 27th. I am blind and this was my first time using a storage facility. I moved from *********** to **************. I was not told that I needed a lock until my arrival. ******** told me they can loan me a lock for my unit. She told me that she would lock it for me and when I needed something out of it they would unlock it for me. I went to pick up my items on May 31st and discovered that my vacuum cleaner, fire stick and heater that I purchased from Amazon were gone . The manager ******* told me a week ago that her supervisor would view the security tapes to see if my items were ever put into the unit. They said they could not refund me although I had insurance. It was a total rip off. Do not do business with Safe Space storage.

I signed a contract for a space that rented for $94 per month, paid by bank draft. Four months later, the rent shot up to $171. Assuming a mistake had been made, I spoke with the site manager. She didn't bother to bring up my file on the computer, just became immediately angry and defensive, robotically spewing company policy about having the right to raise the rate at any time. "Read the contract. It's all there." Of course they have that right, but there's nothing remotely reasonable about practically doubling the rent after four months. The contract does stipulate that management must let the renter know about a rate increase at least 2 weeks in advance; I received no such warning. A search for the parent corporation, Westport Properties (based in **********), gave contacts for complaints through a company phone bank in *********. The lady there said she'd look into it and get back to me. She did not, nor could I reach her again. This is the shadiest company I have ever dealt with. Don't be fooled by their rates sounding good. It's all a bait and switch lie.

This place has recently taken over management for ******** Storage. I received notice that my rent was going up yet again and they also reinstated the renters insurance that I previously signed to opt out. I have called the numbers provided and left several messages for a manger to call me back. Every time I call its a different story from the call center. I have a VM from someone at the location and I called back, left a message and no response. Rent increase started in March 2024 along with the rental insurance that I already opted out of. I was charged for rental insurance in February which is not correct, the due date for March says the 15th on one statement and March 1st on another. Now I have a late fee and an additional lock on my unit. I live in CA and my stuff is in **. I cant believe how a corporation can be run like this. They ask me questions I cant answer like what is your drivers license number well I dont know that I have a CA license and moved 9 years ago, what is your gate code well idk bc I dont live there and never had one. So they refuse to help me. The next call center tells me they have no license on file for me. Which is it? I finally spoke to a nice gentleman that is going to email the district manger to call me. I will give that a couple days then I will report all this to the BBB. This will be my second negative review towards ******** storage with no intention to help resolve my issue.

The “new” management of these storage unit is wildly incompetent. We have had repeated problems with billing and with response to our concerns.

Today when we gave our “Intent to Vacate Notice,” the US Storage Centers’ agent refused to sign the form (where “Agent for Lessor-Westport Properties” was listed. After repeated requests, she signed with just “Angel.”

We are greatly concerned that the staff will create some way to charge us more than warranted — because we are moving out.

Please keep this review as a record of our concerns. We will move all of our things from the two storage units, which we have rented for almost two years, before the COB comes n October 31, 2023z

When I rented a storage unit from the *********************************************************************** I had to supply proof of having homeowners insurance to avoid paying an extra $12 a month for their insurance. I just noticed an extra $12 and it turns out they charged me when my policy period ended, even though my policy auto renews and I never lost coverage. They say they emailed me warning me my policy was ending but after searching my email folders I never found the email and they do not have proof of sending it. Even though I supplied proof of my auto renew insurance policy they will not refund me the $12 saying they did not receive the policy information when they asked for it (which I never received.)

Beware of this business. I rented a small (6'x8') unit from them which is listed as costing $49.50 on their website. However, they sent me an invoice for $91.50. When I called to ask about this, they said that sometimes the prices change without notice, despite what the website says. I then asked if there was anyone else I could talk to and the person on the phone said she would have someone call me, but after not hearing from anyone for a few days, I called back. The person I spoke with agreed that my storage unit was listed online for less than half the price that they were charging me, but wouldn't lower my price, stating that they can change the price at anytime without notice, despite what is advertised on their website. I have since moved my items out of their storage unit and am now renting with a different company for $55/month for a similar sized unit. I hope no one else is scammed by U.S. Storage Centers.
