On March 29th, I hired the Junkluggers of Hollywood to remove items from a storage unit located in ***********, **. The job consisted of moving boxes from a storage unit located on the 4th floor of a building into the Junkluggers truck which was located on the ground floor. The crew used rolling carts and an elevator. No stairs. When I called to make the appointment, I was told that the labor was included in the pricing. When the workers showed up, they told me that only 30 minutes of labor were included, and that thereafter, I would be charged $150/hr. I made the mistake of conceding to these charges in the moment. I was subsequently charged $150 for an extra ***** minutes of labor, minus a 5% discount. There were two problems with this. #1. The corporate office, located in **, has confirmed repeatedly that labor is included. They have told me on three separate occasions in phone calls that I made after the service was rendered that Junkluggers is only allowed to charge for labor if there is additional strain related to the job. Examples that were given to me were carrying items up and down staircases, packing items for clients, awkward landing maneuvers, etc. The corporate office confirmed that taking an elevator does not incur additional strain and does not qualify for labor charges. #2. Even if the labor charge had been justified, I was charged the full $150 even though the workers only labored an extra ***** minutes. They did not disclose this was a FLAT FEE, not an hourly fee. They also lengthened the "extra time" by not loading one of the carts fully, which added an extra round trip for five small boxes of items. Regardless, this labor charge, per the corporate office, should not have been charged in the first place. I have requested 4 times that the franchise owner call me to resolve the problem, 3 times through the corporate office. He has not done so. I'm requesting that the labor charge be reimbursed.
