1 star****DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT MOVING INTO AN APARTMENT BUILDING OWNED BY THEM!!*** They are a bunch of lying, rude dumbbells who do not give any deposits back even when a tenant rightfully is owed it. THIS BEHAVIOR STEMS RIGHT DOWN FROM THE UPPER MANAGEMENT and I am going to *** them. I have overwhelming evidence of their wrongdoings, as well as a friend who is a ** lawyer and only too happy to help me with this. 1 starI wish I could give JRK and 909 west apartments a negative they do not even deserve a 1 star rating. I moved in around May I inspected the place prior to moving in a voice my concerned about the apartment not being updated they guaranteed a new shipment of appliances will arrive in a month and they will update my apartment. Since I had already had the check I said fine I can work with a white stove silver refrigerator and black microwave. And the kitchen was missing a cover over the lights which they barely fixed from last month in November! The smoke detectors in my unit never had battery or been check. I think they just moved me straight into the apartment after the prior tenant! The leasing office never even given me a mailbox key! The list goes on and on. I high recommend no one to do business with the property management you will regret it I promise you! There were vacant apartments they worked on when I'm a paying resident. I will not give them a dime and I'm going to court whenever they send my the letter! I didn't get what I was promise and honestly I should have broke my lease but this is my first apartment and I promise a ****** learned I have reached out to corporate and I sent photo one lady told me oh I don't see what's wrong I look for structural damage not cosmetic like literally the disrespect and neglect of their tenants. The office manager doesn't care she's extremely stuck up and doesn't care about people or at least my kind of people. I feel like this is discriminatory because why haven't my apartment been update why haven't anyone in the office mind you it's 5 of them reach out a ************** needs! Then I wanted to transfer unit the office manager ******** advise they can use $1000 of my security deposit! I really hate this place it doesn't even feel like a home. I'm tired I'll talk to the judge and file a civil case this them because obviously they can careless about anything but taking tenants money. Stay away from this property managementReview fromBen M

1 starThis Company is nothing but a bunch of crooks. From unlawful evictions, excessive charges, predatory landlord pratices, Unhealthy living conditions which myself and my wife now have ***** issues due to multiple kinds of mold being in our unit are only a small tip of the iceburg of insanity this company does to its residents, Not to mention we have since moved out and have not gotten our security deposit back and to add insult to injury they sent our account to collections. We were never late on rent and have proof of all these acts done to **. If nothing is done we will be moving forward will a lawsuit against JRK holding.Review fromTheresa C

1 starThis is a copy of the letter that I gave them when I left this cockroach infested property. I am writing to inform you that I will be terminating my lease effective August 14, 2022 due to the number of grievances over the past 15 months. I have lived without a properly working stove for the duration which you are aware of. Even after replacement of said stove, I am still stuck using multiple burners to cook one pan because it does not maintain heat which leaves me to believe it is a voltage issue. From the day we moved in, your sloppy painters had gotten white paint all over the burners. My cookware is now ruined along with the fact that your new stove now has white paint on it because it transferred back to the burners. The air conditioning has stopped working twice within one year. These issues, along with the sighting of cockroaches have led me to arrive at this decision. The number of emails that I have collected for one year regarding maintenance is ridiculous to say the least.Review fromAmy M

1 starThe new management (JRK) who took over in 2021 is horrible. They fail to respond to work requests in a timely manner even when it poses a safety risk. September 3 , 2021, I placed a work request for a board on my deck that was beginning to rot as they had not resealed the wood. I had to place the work order again in December 23, 2021 and March 8, 2022 for the same issue as still not addressed. They suspended my work order for this in April as they were waiting on replacement boards to arrive, but apparently fixing a deck that likely should have been condemned was not a priority as it was not until July 14, 2022 that they finally "fixed" the most rotten board. Though they left several other soft boards that still posed a safety hazard preventing me from feeling comfortable using my deck. By the time they finally addressed my work order and that for my neighbor's adjoining deck, there was a hole several inches wide through the deck that let you look straight down onto the 2nd story deck below. Honestly, the decks should have been condemned. It is unacceptable that something that posed that much of a safety hazard took over 9 months to address and then they only did the minimum fix replacing the rottenest boards. Honestly, the decks need to be condemned They then charged me beyond my security deposit to clean carpets for normal wear and tear on move out after declining to allow me to be present for move out inspection. I paid the bill on time, but the sent it debt collections prior to the due date so now I'm being contacted by debt collectors for a bill that was already paid.Review fromRobert J

1 starAs a professional business owner myself, I honestly do not understand how JRK and Hideway get away with their business practices. Absolutely awful! My lease ended on July 31, 2022 and I moved out, turned in my keys, and they took my forwarding address information on July 22, 2022. Now they say I owe for August and September. So instead of getting my $1997 deposit returned they say I owe over $1600. You call and no one answers the phone, and it is almost an accident to find anyone working in their office. My wife and I only rented there because we sold our $600,000 home early and we had 11 months before our retirement. Angry does not even begin to describe how I feel about ************** since now it has been turned over to a collection agency. I guess it is time to contact my attorney for legal action. As a person who pays their bills and does things the right way, I hate poor business habits like ************** demostates. Do your best to stay away from Hideaway Apartments! I am not one who writes a negative review often, but something needs to be done with this company. They are constantly bad!Review fromDavid A

1 starSorry I can't give 0-stars. Was a long-standing resident of ********************, vacated 10.31.2022. Avoid this place like the plague! The issues in general as follow: 1. security (the security doors don't regularly work.) 2. rampant drug usage on premise (hallways smell strongly of pot, witnessed dealer walking up to the main door without a care to meet a customer) 3. terrible management office. (repeatedly subjected to disrespectful and unhelpful staff, when they are actually present, and they do not answer phones).
I was happy to leave this place in my rearview, but the final kick was their payment portal. It indicates it will do recurring payment until you cancel or (emphasis) you have moved out. This did not happen and they charged me a surprise $1,800 bill. Further, after spending an afternoon trying to get a hold of ANYONE at corporate or local management office, I finally found a number not listed on their website from their leasing answering service and got a live person. They acknowledged the issue, but indicated they could not reverse the charge since I was no longer a resident. They intend to hold my money for a month and kick it back with my security deposit. When I asked the person I was talking with ***** to see if I could speak to a manager, she said yes you can and put me on hold and then at 5PM when the office was closing and said her manager **** wasn't willing to speak with me. When I asked for her to set up a time for her manager to call me Mon morning at 9am, she indicates that their office opens at 9 and they can't guarantee a call at that time. ***** claims they have zero ability to contact the management company (JRK) to have them cut me a check. I find it impossible to fathom that they are unable to contact the corporate holding company. So, stay away from this apartment group - they are THIEVES, plain and simple.Review fromColleen V

1 starI'm a resident of an apartment building of this company. The building is disgusting. The management is a joke. They fix NOTHING. The garage gate and elevators have been broken for weeks. I needed a key for my unit and they lied to me saying I had to go get it made somewhere and they couldn't make it although the machine to make it IS IN THE APARTMENT BUILDING. Other than being useless, they are not friendly. Even corporate is a joke. You call or email and you don't get a response. I've been trying to get a response for over a year now. They also do NOTHING to help you. The so called "lease" is garbage. They don't enforce anything so things are broken and dirty and I've seen dog f**** and urine in hallways. I've seen *** dolls left next to the recycling bins. The only nice people I've met are the maintenance guys who last maybe 2 months because eventually they hate the company too. I hope they read this and realize how truly awful they are and make residents MISERABLE.Review fromBrigida S

1 starLiving in Apex ended up in a nightmare, as I was out of the country my car was vandalized in the building parking that I paid for monthly. The garage has no cameras, they would not release any footage of the cameras entering the garage without police present despite being a tenant for 24 months. I asked to be let out of my lease two weeks before because I am scared of my safety although I gave a proper 60 day notice and they made me pay the entire month not taking in to consideration the expenses I incurred such as a car rental while they fix my vehicle, a deductible because my car was not safe in the building I live in. Apex and Corporate JRK takes 0 accountability and simply does not care. We were not asking to stay there for free or for the expenses that we incurred due to our vehicle being vandalized to be paid, all we wanted was to leave as soon as we could (2 weeks before our official lease date) because we were scared for our safety but $1800 is more important to them. The management doesn't care and corporate cares even less. In fact we emailed *********** times before we recived a responseand as I waited for their response which I never received until I followed up with them again they charged me a late fee for not paying my rent by the 5th of the month. The management is terrible, there is ALWAYS new staff, they do not respond to your emails, the rugs in the hallways and rugs are dirty and never cleaned or replaced. Money is their only concern, they do not care about your safety or what happens to your property while living there. I will never live in any Apex or JRK building and I do not recommend anyone does.Review fromCurtis A

1 starI am both a former resident and a former employee at westcliffe apartments managed by jrk in the time that I was there they had multiple safety issues they never addressed multiple health-related water issues that they simply ignored and painted over installed AC equipment wrong just to shut the residents up the property manager there ****** is extremely rude has no information for anyone about anything and their maintenance staff always seems to be in a very upset grouchy mood anytime they go to do a work order I believe it is due to a lack of parts a lack of safety equipment and a lack of having a knowledgeable and respectful property manager
This property claims to be luxury style yet everything in it is outdated and the walls are painted and nicotine yellow color they have trash cans outside for dog stations however it's a dollar store trash can their dog park is always dirty never properly cleaned and full of dog ****..
I would not recommend to anyone that I know to live nor work with this company as they cannot even pay their employees on time.
they need to be closely investigated by the better Business bureau for shady practices as well as investigated by OSHA for multiple safety violations
