I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding an unsatisfactory experience at the Trader Joes *************** location involving store manager ******* ****.Incident Details:Date: May 30, 2025 Store: Trader Joes, Miami Employee: ******* ****, Store Product: Trader Joes Salad Dressing (expired March 2025; barely used).?I purchased a bottle of Trader Joes salad dressing, tasted it, and I did not like it. As I have done in the past, I planned to return the product for store credit since Trader Joes is known for its generous return policy, even for opened or partially used items. The dressing was barely usedjust tasted onceand I kept it in my home with the intention to return it during my next visit, as I do not live near a Trader Joes.When I attempted to return the dressing, *** **** refused to offer a store credit, stating that the store does not accept expired items and that returns must be made before the expiration date. I was not aware of any such deadline, as Trader Joes widely advertises a flexible and customer-friendly return policy. After leaving the store, I checked the return policy online and found no mention of a requirement to return items before their expiration date. I called the store and spoke again with *** ****, who confirmed his position.Concerns:Trader Joes is known for accepting returns,Nowhere in the official or widely reported policy does it state that expired items cannot be returned, if expired.I do not live near a Trader Joes, so returning the item before the expiration date was not feasible.I was not informed of any return deadline at the time of purchase or in any visible store signage.Requested Resolution:Clear clarification from Trader Joes corporate regarding the official policy on returning opened, barely used, and expired food items that a customer did not like.A store credit for the value of the salad dressing and clear policy.Initial Complaint

On August 13, 2024, I left a message with corporate Trader Joe's that I do not want the Fearless flyer paper to come to my postal mailbox. I never received a response. On August 17, 2024, I called the Surprise, AZ Trader Joes and spoke to the manager as to how to stop these newsletters coming to my mailbox. The manager said he could not help me with this issue.On August 8, 2024, I emailed ********************************** asking to be removed from their mailings. Again, no response. On May 21, 2025 I again emailed and called again. Trader Joe's never responds to my request! These Fearless Flyers are available to read online, so why would I want them to clutter up my mailbox?! Pricing discrepancy I encountered at 0213 store on May6-2025 I selected peonies from a display clearly marked at $5.99. However, upon checkout, the flowers rang up at $9.99. The cashier noticed the discrepancy and called for manager. Instead, employee **** responded and stated that no price adjustment would be made. The cashier confirmed that the signage indicated $5.99, but **** mentioned that the peonies were recently stocked and the signs had not yet been updated.According to California Business and Professions Code *******, it is unlawful for a business to charge more than the advertised or posted price for a commodity, regardless of whether the signage has been updated. Consumers are entitled to pay the lowest advertised, posted, or quoted price at the time of sale. I am asking for a refund and asking the store Mgr to make employees aware in the future.Initial Complaint

On Thursday, I went to Trader Joe's to buy some food for my ailing sick stomach. And when I came into the store, some of the employees started indirectly harassing me. So I went to the captain's station and asked for the corporate number and information, just in case I needed to file a complaint. Upon me getting the card, I stood in line and when the checker finished checking my groceries and me paying for my groceries, instead of him calmly handling the receipt in my hand, he held on the receipt tight so I had to yank it from him. And then I was told by the Trader *** Captain ********* that I'm not welcome back into the store again. After being a 30-year loyal customer, just because we got into a heated dispute, I was told that I'm not welcome any longer. On 4-8-25 I purchased one bottle of wine from this vendor. It was rancid and was also carbonated which was not designated on the label in English. I cannot have anything carbonated due to a medical issue. On 4-23-25 I tried to return the wine to the same vendor and was told it was illegal in the state of *******. It obviously is not according to what I googled and attached. Additionally I told the manager that I have returned spoiled wine to several other vendors in the same exact city with no issuse. Manager then said I could exchange it but it had to be the exact same wine. I already had informed him of my medical condition. He pointed out that the label said it was carbonated in ITALIAN. I pointed out that I do not speak Italian nor am I a sommelier. I said I would spend additional money for a different bottle but he refused. I am totally sick and tired of being screwed over by vendors and merchants which has been rampant since covid. Trader Joes ********************************************** Time: 4:00 to 5:00 ******** I visited Trader Joes on *******************. I enjoyed shopping at the location on ************ because of the friendly staff. There have been times, however, that some cashier's have not been friendly. For example, last month, there was a cashier that I knew was friendly and attired well. I waited fr the cashier. Another woman cashier called me names while I waited. I found that behavior unprofessional. Tonight, I visited between 5:15 and 6PM. I saw a familiar employee near the entrance to the cashiers. I waited. However, as the cashier was processing the order she began to frown and grimace. I thought, "I waiting for her. I can help her smile." I thought that because she was usually very friendly. However, another woman cashier accused me of holding he line. There was room to pass. The cashier continued to grimace. I like working with happy cashiers. I saw another familiar cashier from Christmas. He, maintained a positive smile, professional demeanor., and friendly conversation. The two interactions were vastly different. After the transaction, I walked over to the woman cashier. She said she was a manager. I was surprised. I shared with her that I would like a better experience. She spoke over me. Because of her Interruptions, I walked away. I realized that the woman cashier/manager did not want to address her and her employee's behavior. I like Trader Joes. I received several Trader Joe's gift cards Dec.2024. When I used $100 GC for what believe was first time the current balance after purchase seemed incorrect. I questioned it in store, they indicated had to send an email to determine balance & would be in touch. I offered to check it once home thinking could check it online as with all other gift cards ever owned. Unable to do online, called # on card back & left a voicemail. Call returned by ****** on 3.24.25 who provided balance but unable to provide transaction history due to 'privacy obligations' as she called it. I said had card in my hand & could provide the PIN but she indicated could not provide. I googled it & seems TJoe's does not have a system to keep track of it.When it is incorrect how do I get credit for full card value??!! They need a better system vs. telling customers cannot provide due to 'privacy obligations'. It is a disservice to customers & those who PAID for the full card value: they need to change this asap!! Or if not it shows they are not customer focused after all.Stated balance is $24.75 of $100 card after purchase while only used it for $17.37. If I am making a mistake prove me wrong and provide the historical transaction balance: only fair to show me how / if used in the past; I have no receipts showing prior use. **************** unwilling to help to resolve this issue. Unfortunately I have several other TJoe's gift cards & now am very concerned this will be a recurring problem with them. I will let **************** know not to purchase ****'s gift cards anymore until they can resolve these types of inquries re a card balance. I went into trader Joe's to return some items. I did not have a receipt as their policy states you don't have to have a receipt for most items. All the items I was returning were not open. One of the managers they said his name is **** ******* asked me why I was returning the items I was told you don't have to give a reason or have a received He proceeded to tell me that I had to have a receipt for these items the word open. He said he would check the system and the only thing I had to do was give him the last four digits of the credit card that I used I gave him that information he stayed at the customer service desk for over 10 minutes and couldn't find anything I shop at trader Joe's on a regular basis- every week. He told me he couldn't find any of the items that I was returning. I'm a black woman who has mobility issues who had a cane My bags that I was carrying were so big I placed them in a shopping cart he proceeded to continue to say that he was looking for these things but couldn't find records of them in his system. This was a white man giving a black senior woman a hard time for no reason. When I look at my account I see that I went to trader Joe's and I did a screenshot of all the times that I use my debit card to make purchases I go to trader Joe's at least once a week and the fact that he said he couldn't find those things and I was humiliated I had to drag the cart around to the customer service desk because he took so long and I had my Access-a-ride outside waiting to pick me up.I ended up leaving because after 15 minutes Access-A-Ride wasn't waiting and I couldn't wait for a rescue vehicle.Initial Complaint

*** ******** who is a Political Scientist with a Ph. D. in Political Science went to the Trader Joe's store where we have made many purchases indeed over the years and happened to tell the cashier that *** ******** had read from the *********************** that alcohol can cause cancer or make it worse and that, therefore, Trade ***** would be wise to stop selling alcoholic beverages!TO WHICH, the cashier called over the store manger who then in a tirade of verbal abuse with physical threat included said, "You are banned from the store" which meant that Mrs. ********, *** ********** beloved and loving wife, best friend, and soulmate was banned too!We complained to corporate headquarters but still this store manager has continued to ban *** ******** and thus Mrs. *********** do live in the *** where DUE PROCESS OF LAW and EQUAL PROTECTION OF THE **** are so very vitally important and essential!To ban *** ******** and thus Mrs. ******** all because *** ******** A PROSTATE CANCER PATIENT made mention of the aforementioned is so terribly wrong!*** and Mrs. ******* ******* and ******* Louise ********
