I went through Metro Hop Relocation to help with my move. They used HGME as their carier. I have never been more DISSATISFIED with a company. When the 3 guys came to load up my furniture they said they could not park in the driveway because of the telephone wires above. The wires were at least 10 feet higher than the top of the truck. I am conviced they just wanted me to pay the long distance hauling for carrying my furniture down the sidewalk. These workers were NOT personable or friendly. They did not communicate with me about their packing/ moving process. I had no reassurance my things were going to be taken care of. In my inventory email I listed a large *********** that would need padding. They said padding & blankets were included in the price they gave me. I ended up paying over $700 more beacuse of the extra charges for padding & long distance haul. They told me the delivery window would be 5-7 days. I ended up sleeping on an air mattress for 23 days waiting for my furniture. When I called the number they gave me of the person who would be driving the truck, I got an automatic response from ******* saying this phone number is no longer available. I called customer service & emailed them multiple times without getting a response. I was sure I was scammed & I would have to start shopping for new furniture. Finally after calling everyday I got a response that my furniture was just leaving the state I moved from. It took them another 5 days to get to the state I moved to. When they arrived, I had to pay an extra fee beacuse I was on the 3rd ************ consider a flight of stairs as only 7 steps, which mine had 13 steps on one flight. My nightstand legs were broken & my metal cart's frame was mashed in. They did not unpack all of the boxes & left me to do half of their job. My TV had no padding around it at all, just shoved in a box with other breakable items. They also left all their packing boxes, ************** on my floor for me to clean up. UNPROFESSIONAL

Absolutely useless. I would have put everything in my Kia Soul. Two weeks into the move and no one will tell us where our furniture and belongings are. Disgusting.

I booked what I thought would be a moving truck through Safeway Relocation services in November, for December 4/5. I was quoted just under $2,000 for a move from SD to AZ. The driver called me 15 minutes before arriving, on December 5. He took pictures of the packed items and sent them to his “boss” and gave me a new estimate of over $4,000. The driver was so insistent that I use their company. The boss was also justifying the new estimate with their “measurement“ system. I packed what I could for the original price that I was quoted by Safeway. Then I signed the company’s Bill of Landing. I purchased a money order and filled it out in front of the driver and I asked what name should I make it out to, and he said “it’s fine we can do that”, I insisted on doing it myself, so he showed me their business name, and I made it out to “Household Goods Moving Experts”. I asked the driver if a copy of the contract would be sent to me via email and he said yes.
On December 8 I arrived to AZ, by drive. I still had not received and email from HGME. So I called the driver and asked if he would send the contract, he said that he would text me the phone number of the department I needed to reach. Never received a text from him.
I called his number twice the following day and no answer or call back. I then called a number listed on BBB.org for HGME, I told him my name and state of the move and he told me to call back tomorrow during business hours.
I called the listed number again the following day during business hours and state my name and state of the move and he recognizes me from the previous day. He told me that my items are in the warehouse and that they would be put onto the next truck going west, then I will be notified when it will ship, and may take up to 30 BUSINESS DAYS. I was shocked and told him the driver told me 3-5 business days- up to 2 weeks, and he told me that was wrong and hung up.
!!GET A UHAUL OR POD INSTEAD!!

Just completed my move and my roommates and I have been INCREDIBLY IMPRESSED with how professional, friendly and fast this team have been. Everyone on the team knew what they were doing. Will highly suggest them to anybody for their move!

What a joke! They have done everything they can to avoid me! I've been after a monthly storage fee fur 10 months and they're never available or it off office. Now I recurve an email saying they will auction my stuff if I don't pay over $9000 in storage fees! They don't respond to emails or voice messages. They just keep adding on to your bill. With all of these complaints, how are they even still in business?

I would give zero stars if I could. DO NOT use this company!!! I moved from MN to MA and booked the movers through America’s First Movers. I had no idea that they are brokers and contract the work out. I ended up paying almost DOUBLE what I was originally quoted when I initially booked with this company. I did not know HGME was the movers coming to pick up my belongings until they showed up. They tried to increase the price by over $2,500….I had to leave several furniture pieces behind to save the $2,500.. they basically told me you pay it or you have to leave some things behind. I gave a detailed inventory list when booking, so this was extremely upsetting. The movers were unprofessional, and made multiple comments about how pretty I was-asked if I had a boyfriend/husband and made me EXTREMELY uncomfortable in my own home. It took almost three weeks to receive my belongings. I had to buy an air mattress and essentials to get by….while adjusting to living in a new city/state. When I received my things, boxes were damaged, furniture damaged, brand new air fryer/convention oven was STOLEN, HP printer was STOLEN, and crockpot shattered. I filed complaints and claims for my items. I have not heard back with a solution yet…….I am pretty hopeless that I will get anything back from this. I was told on the phone from Americas First Movers that - “worse scenarios have happened.” No apologies, no solutions. Do not use America’s First Moving Company or HGME. PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THIS! This company needs to be shut down immediately so no one else has to go through what I went through.

I have worked with Household Goods Moving Experts three times, moving a fully equipped one bedroom apartment. The first time, I call them by referral from my roommate, who had used them when we moved in together in 2020. Every single move has been excellent with them. They responds quickly for quotes. I don't have any proposal for improvement with this team. They are friendly and they work very hard, which really help out lower the stress of moving day. I hope I don't have to move again soon, but if I do, I would call them again without any delay.
