My 3 year old son who is non verbal and not potty trained was supposed to start preschool on Monday, March 6th at Goddard in the new ********* location. I had filled out the registration packet in December explaining this to them. I also wrote about my son's situation in an email to the owners. For 3 months they said he could join their school. Then the day before my son was supposed to start school, she told me my son cannot join because he would be unsuccessful since he is not potty trained. She then said he cannot go because he threw a tantrum when my dad took my son on a tour of the school on Friday, March 3rd. It is normal for 3 year old children to throw tantrums. She also stated that because he is non verbal and not potty trained and because of his tantrum on the day he toured the school that he is not welcomed to go there. In an email, she said it is irresponsible and negligent for a parent to thrust a child in a program without the tools to be successful. She said my son would not be successful in her school. She also said it is the parent's responsibility to inform them if a child has special needs which I did inform them of this in writing twice. The negligence is on the owner. It sounds to me that she did not read the registration packet or the email I sent them. This 100% inconvenienced my family and my son by her rejecting my child at the very last minute when we were relying on him to start daycare on March 6th. Had she been responsible and told me upfront that he would not be a good fit and if she told me this in a caring way then this would never have been an issue. Instead she wrote me a very condescending, degrading email to me speaking to me as if I am a bad parent. I do not appreciate being treated like trash. I am very upset that she spoke to me in an unethical and condescending manner. It sounds to me like she is also discriminating against my son.
