In February 2022 I purchased a gift card from Lush Balloons for $200. I paid $200 directly to the company for the gift card. No discount or special offers were offered or applied to the purchase. After confirming that the business offered gift cards I expressed my desire to use it for my daughter's schools upcoming ************* February 2025 I went to use the gift card for upcoming event and was told it had expired. I explained that because I paid full price for the gift card and this is **********, it is unlawful for the gift card to expired. **** at Lush told me he disagreed and since the card was sold for the benefit of a non-profit he would not honor the gift card. The original gift card did not have an expiration date. I explained that a gift card can expired if I had not personally purchased the gift card or if it had not been purchased at full price. He then said he would not honor it and ignored further communication.

    Cindel,

We do not appreciate you trying to bring negative light on our family owned business in regards to a situation that you fail to clearly acknowledge is your own doing. We will address every concern in fine detail since you think we are scamming you out of money.

First you contacted our business in February of 2022 for a Gift Certificate, not a gift card, two very different things. By your attachment of our text message thread you clearly stated you were looking for a 'Gift Certificate' and not a 'Gift Card.'

Secondly you have acknowledged that the purpose of purchase was for your daughters school fundraiser. All schools whether public or private are considered 'not-for-profit entities' to which gives a company the ability to mark any gift certificate(s) with an expiration date. In addition to this, I find it quite suspicious that you would purchase a gift card for a school fundraiser auction but then try to use it yourself later? The gift certificate should have been for the benefit of the purchaser as the proceeds would have then gone to the school as intended. How are we to know that this has not occurred and you are now trying to use it?

Third, you state that the Gift Certificate did not have an expiration date, yet per your 1-star review on Yelp you clearly acknowledged that you were told "it was good for 8 months." Please help us understand then how there was misinformation on our end? Furthermore, the email we sent to you on February 15th, 2022 had the Gift Certificate attachment with a clear and concise notation at the bottom stating the Gift Certificate 1301 would expire December 31, 2022. Had this been an issue from the beginning you would have mentioned it.

Beyond this you contacted our company again on ************** regarding the birthday party of your child. Considering the Gift Certificate had not been redeemed we were willing to make an exception to allow its use nearly two-fulls years after the original expiration. Yet, you ghosted us and we never heard from you again until last month, February of 2025. Given all of the information provided we have not failed to be fair and just in this situation. We wish you the very best.
