    I agreed to a membership in 2023. I had one location send me to collections, harming my credit score, after (1) I contacted to cancel when I relocated to an area where there was no location, (2) the manager who was to cancel my membership was terminated, and (3) I suffered credit card fraud and had to have my credit card replaced--hence payments were stopped with the new account number. I was not contacted that the membership was never cancelled and that payments were owed. The owner's quick action to send me to collections severely harmed my credit score. The owner, manager, and other staff then lied to me that if I paid the amount owed--despite not using a facility for 8-9 months following my cancellation--that the collection would be removed from my credit report. I paid the amount in full, and this outcome did not happen. All of this surfaced AFTER I signed a 24-month contract 9 months later.

    I have attempted to cancel my membership for the past 6 months after realizing I had been getting charged over a year for membership. I called before I deployed to **** in 2021 to cancel my membership with this club. They said It would be paused indefinitely until I resumed the membership myself. Without my knowledge they reactivated my membership and continued to charge me for over 2 years. I have not stepped foot or utilized this gym ever since my first attempt to cancel. I have called and messaged every single contact publicly available for this location and have gotten no response. I have driven over 1 hour multiple times to attempt to cancel in person but no one is ever there despite there posted hours saying it is staffed. Now they have tried to charge me late fees after I canceled the payments on my end and have even threatened to send me to collections. This is an issue several others are having based on their reviews. I believe the requirements to cancel in person at the location are used to keep people locked in to membership even after they want to cancel.

    Primary account name: *************************** ******** #: **** Acct #: **** I signed up for a one year membership from March 2022 to March 2023 with Anytime Fitness. I first tried cancelling over the phone in Jan '23, but I was told I can only cancel one month before the membership is up. I went into the gym Feb asking to cancel and was told that the membership would get cancelled. The manager at the time was interim because the old manager had just quit. I later found out this interim manager had forgotten to file a formal cancellation.The first week of May I saw I had been charged for all of April + the annual fee. I went back into the gym to cancel again and the new manager said "oh we didn't cancel because there was no formal cancellation. we've actually gotten a lot of calls like this while the interim manager was here" I then asked for a copy of the formal cancellation which I received and it was dated 5/2/23.I disputed the charges with my bank and got refunded. I also called Anytime to ensure they cancel my account. My biggest complaint is that no one EVER answers the phone at Anytime. It is extremely hard to get ahold of the manager even with leaving a voicemail.I finally got in contact with Anytime two weeks after trying to contact them and they told me that they still can't cancel my account because I have an outstanding balance of $24.99. I was confused because no one had ever mentioned that previously, but accepted it and asked if I could pay it then over the phone. The manager then tells me that Anytime cannot accept any billing and that it needs to go through *** Fitness.It took me a long time to finally get in contact with a member of *** Fitness's call center and pay off the $25. Now I'm still waiting to hear back from Anytime to see if my account got cancelled. This whole process has been ongoing for over a month and I'm terrified that any floating amount might go to collections and affect my credit score. Please help me get this account cancelled.

    My wife and I have been trying to cancel our membership since March of 2023. We have been getting continuously sending emails and leaving voice messages in order to cancel the membership with no replies. We have attempted to go in person 3 separate times in which there was no one at the front desk. The last time we went in person, we got a verbal confirmation that our membership was cancelled and we returned our key fob that accessed the gym, so now we do not have access to get into the gym. Anytime Fitness is continuing to charge for membership fees so we had to cancel our credit card to get it to stop. Now they claim we cannot cancel our membership fees due to late fees. They still will not return emails or phone calls, and there are no employees at the front desk during their claimed business hours.
