I received a bill for a knee brace in the amount of $464.99 from Dr. ***** ****** office, which I was misled into believing would be covered by my insurance, Cigna on January 8, 2025.I was given inaccurate information by the medical assistant, **** *******, who told me that the knee brace was covered by insurance, referencing other patients with Cigna. I was not made aware of any potential financial responsibility at that time. When I was asked to sign a document acknowledging receipt of the knee brace, I was under the impression that I was merely confirming receipt. The iPad was already set up with the signature line for me to sign my name, and I was not informed that I was agreeing to financial responsibility for the knee brace. Only after receiving the bill did I see additional information about financial responsibility. The billing manager, ******* via **** later explained on March 27 that I had signed for financial responsibility, which was not clearly communicated to me at the time. **** from the office, also informed me that I was responsible for the out-of-pocket cost for the knee brace after speaking with *******, but this was a conversation over the phone without any follow-up emails or written communication.I am now being asked to pay for an item that was misrepresented to me, and I do not believe I should be financially responsible due to the misleading unethical information provided by the medical assistant. I am also willing to return the knee brace to resolve this situation. Ive included copies of my bill the email from the medical office saying the receipt is for Proof of delivery Product information and standards I did not see all the other details on the iPad presented to me from the medical assistant. It was just a space for me to sign my name and she said sign here to acknowledge dispense of the knee brace..
