On December 16th 2024, Truthfinder.com, without authorization, charged my deceased father's bank account for $29.97 causing the account to fall into the negative. My father passed September 17th 2024 while in hospice care and did not sign for any services from Truthfinder. As excecutor of the estate I cannot close the bank account until this matter is resolved. I have also contacted the bank to contest the charge.Business Response

My father's name is **** ****** and I no longer have his bank debit card as it was shredded after his passing and he did not have a credit cards nor a ****** account. I do not know what email was used but it was not his as I am able to monitor that account and fiound no correspondence from Truthfinder. TruthFinder.com has a very deceptive entrance for their site that is gathering information about people while claiming to be finding information for you, with the largest problem being that after this long process that collects your information and makes it seem like they are doing some live search of information, 15 to 20 minutes later is when they tell you that you must them pay them for the information they said they were going to gather. There is no information at all that they are performing a service for a fee or that they are gather your information, in fact, their site says that they protect your data. It is only after this long process of deceptive information gathering of my personal information and then a request for payment that it was clear they are gathering my information, which is what they are in the business of apparently. Gather and sell people's information, but it is done so deceptively. This place needs to be fined for their deceptive practices and their claimed A rating with the BBB should not be that high of a score, this company is doing bad things.Business Response

I have cancelled this subscription as of 3/24/23. I am still being charged monthly on my credit card. Ive even filed disputes that were resolved in my favor. When I log in to their website it shows the status as cancelled.Business Response

Consistent with applicable laws, all material terms, including billing details and automatic renewal terms, are clearly disclosed before submitting payment information, and each user is required to check a box separately agreeing to those terms before being charged. Our billing terms are conspicuously explained on our registration page and in our Terms of Use. Customers are sent a confirmation email for any orders placed on the site.
The charges associated with the payment method in question have been disputed, resulting in a chargeback. When a chargeback occurs, it indicates that the account is in dispute with the financial institution, and the individual should contact the institution directly for any refund requests. The membership was promptly canceled and deactivated, with no additional charges to be incurred. Furthermore, due to the dispute, access to this account will no longer be attainable.

I purchased the $1 Background Check report on 10/18/2024. However, instead of the one time purchase, this business repurposed this purchase as a trial subscription with an intention to hide the information in very obscure place. I was then charged $32.54 on 11/27 and 10/26. The business never sent out any invoice for the following charges so it didn't catch my attention until the second charge. I was accidentally charged twice so I reached out to customer service via email. I kept getting the runaround so I finally called them. I told them I was charged twice. She said that on my account did not reflect this. I asked to speak to a manager to address the issue.
