Deceptive advertising - Bait and Switch A general search for an old friend's name turned up truthfinder.com. Nowhere on the page did it say that there would be a fee for the service. I THEREFORE assumed that you could do 1 free search. Only after approximately half an hour of answering questions and waiting for "info searches" did I come to the final page where they asked for money. The report (98% of which I don't need) can not be accessed without a payment. I want the report I so patiently waited for without having to pay. What a bunch of gaslighting.
as I said in original complaint, the problem is not that they charge but that you have to sacrifice ***** minutes going through their investigation process before you find out. Then the price is exhorbitante if all you want is one look up.
they never say anything about price when you start the process.
I have no need for unlimited records look up. I only wanted contact info about one person. I dont even want the voluminous data they offer.

This company has all my personal information on their website, and I've asked SEVERAL times - follow their process - for my information to be removed. The site will not allow you to follow through with the process of removing your information. This is extremely dangerous and I need my information removed. It should be illegal for a company to put all your personal information out for the world to see without your permission. After using a free trial I cancelled this service online. Later I found they were charging me in 2022. At that time I called and cancelled with the representative and told them to delete my account and all associated information, Then in March of **************************** again (as you can see from the cancellation letters they used the same Acct #, PIN, CC, and email address!) IF they purged my data from their records, HOW did they reactivate my account and start charging my CC. This has been reported as fraudulent activity to my bank and I will be pursuing other avenues (i.e. class action, etc.) as they have a terrible reputation of repeating these same activities with others throughout the **,Business Response

Company records indicate that the account linked to the information provided by Mark Mcmahan was initially activated on March 30, 2022, and subsequently cancelled on April 1, 2022. On March 5, 2024, the account was reactivated, and multiple searches were conducted.
Upon activating their account, users are required to provide an electronic signature that authorizes TruthFinder to charge their card as outlined, which includes the automatic renewal of their membership. Our Billing Terms are clearly outlined on our registration page and in our Terms of Use. Upon placing an order on the site, customers receive a confirmation email.
Mark Mcmaha’s account was cancelled on October 11, 2024, and a refund was issued for the charges from the previous 3 months. This refund has been processed back to the payment method used for enrollment, and no additional charges will be applied. In accordance with company policy, we are unable to issue any further refunds for this account.

I signed up for what I believed to be a one-time payment for Truthfinder services. I see now that they are charging me $30.77 a day. I have tried to go on their website to cancel the subscription but it keeps giving me a message that I need to pass the two-factor authentication due to not using the same computer when logging in, but I was in fact using the same computer. And then, even though I would select the option to receive the authentication code to my phone via text, i would never receive the text. Truthfinder is making it impossible to cancel my account.
