Federal Trade Commission v Select Student Services and Eduardo Martinez
The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.
On May 14, 2025, Select Student Services LLC and Eduardo Martinez, Member of Select Student Services LLC, entered into an Order for Permanent Injunction and Monetary Judgment with the Federal Trade Commission. The Order settles allegations that the business and Eduardo Martinez participated in deceptive and unlawful practices in the marketing and sale of student loan debt relief, that violate the FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule and the FTC's Trade Regulation Rule on Impersonation of Government and Business. Under terms of the Order, the business and Eduardo Martinez were banned from secured and unsecured debt relief products and services, banned from telemarketing, to prohibit business activities, injunction relating to impersonating any government entity or person, injunction relating to consumer financial information, partial suspension, and to jointly and severally pay a monetary judgment in the amount of $16,787,028.
