On September 20, 2018 the New York Attorney General filed a complaint in The State of New York County of New York. Charges filed allege the business is in violation of Telemarketing Sales Rule, Federal Credit Repair Organization Act, New York General Business Law, New York Banking Law and New York General Obligations law prohibiting fraudulently, deceptively and illegally advertising, marketing, offering for sale, selling, and financing student debt relief services to thousands of consumers nationwide; prohibiting falsely claiming to be affiliated with the federal government, making multiple misrepresentations to induce consumers to enroll in their services, and charging consumers illegal upfront fees and/or usurious interest rates.
