I am submitting this complaint due to ongoing issues with Byte. I began treatment over two years ago, and despite fulfilling my obligations, the company has failed to uphold their end of the contract. I have repeatedly attempted to contact Byte through various channels without success. They have not responded to my inquiries, provided support, or completed the treatment as promised. This lack of communication and follow-through is unacceptable, especially considering the financial and personal investment Ive made. I purchased Bytes all-day aligner system and protection plan for a total of $2,698 on July 9, 2024 (Order #*******). I followed the treatment instructions and completed all 10 aligners as directed. However, the results were extremely minimal, I still had some gaps, and the outcome was far from what Byte advertised or what I expected when I signed up.Because I didnt see real improvement, I stopped using the aligners. I later attempted to restart the process, but found that Byte had shut down operations and is no longer offering customer support, refinements, or follow-up care. This left me stuck with an ineffective product and no path forward to complete my treatment or request adjustments under the included protection plan.I am now exploring traditional orthodontic care with a local provider, but I believe I deserve a refund or compensation from Byte. I began using Byte aligners (******************** is the parent company I will also make a complaint against and ******** portfolio management is the loan servicer) a few years ago. I paid for insurance which included a lifetime warranty. I was told I would have my results in 3 months. I started treatment in September 2023 and my teeth are destroyed. They stopped making aligners to continue treatment and my bottom teeth have permanently been damaged from these aligners. I expressed my concerns via email from the beginning and have photos from what my teeth looked like as I began their treatment plan. They continued to tell me to back track or keep wearing the aligners regardless of telling them about the damage. Now I am stuck with no additional treatment to fix my teeth and permanent damage. This is a breach of warranty. ****************** is who I have the loan with and they will not stop calling me. I need to take action now against this company who has destroyed my life and falsely took on a treatment plan that they could not uphold. I have paid 19 payments of ***** equaling $1,659.08 towards the loan/fees. I need a resolution and my money back. I also need this loan removed from my credit report. Although I may need to take further action for the permanent damage that was done at this point I just want the account closed and to be reimbursed the $1,659.08.Business Response

In September, 2023, I purchased Bytes clear aligner treatment plan from Byte, a DTC dental aligner company based in ***********, **. The plan included 18 sets of aligners, each to be worn for at least two weeks. I paid the full cost upfront ($1,599), expecting properly aligned teeth as Bytes advertising and support promised.Byte committed to a comprehensive remote orthodontic plan, including follow-ups, refinements if needed, and retainer guidance.However, several aligners didnt fit correctly, requiring extended wear. I reported these issues throughout the treatment period. Despite strictly following instructions, by June, 2024, I hadnt achieved satisfactory results. I temporarily relocated overseas for an urgent matter, continuing to wear the final aligners (set 18) to maintain progress.After completing the series, I was left with a visible upper gap and lower crowdingproblems that were not present before and which I had sought treatment for. In May 2025, I returned to the **** and contacted Byte again. I submitted new photos clearly showing the unresolved issues and requested refinements. Byte declined, citing a 30-day policy, even though my dissatisfaction was communicated earlier and documented.I made multiple efforts to resolve the matter, including photo documentation and emails. I cant use the byte aligner trays but have been paying for the byte teeth aligner trays for almost 2 years now. I ordered the byte impression kit on july 8th, 2023. I then ordered the night treatment plan on july 28th, 2023. I had no idea i was going to be paying back a loan. I didnt have a dentist at the time i ordered these but once i talked to a dentist he immediately said to stop using them especially for my case. I have tried to contact them multiple times so i could at least talk to someone about it but its basically impossible. Its sad im having to pay for these trays probably another year or two. i dont care for a refund but to cancel future payments for something i cant and wont use. im wondering if i need to talk to my bank and/or a lawyer because byte team makes it seem like they will do anything to help but they actually just ghost you. its infuriating that *** already paid $1,871.10 i struggle every month to pay this. id love a refund.Business Response

I purchased aligners for my top and bottom teeth with an insurance plan on the 14th of January 2021. Once is started the process, started having issues with them. I contacted the company multiple times for advice and got the same response. "Take a picture and keep going with the treatment plan." After a flight my aligners were lost by the airline and were never returned. I contacted Byte again for replacement aligners for which I had insurance for. This time after another evaluation, I was told they couldn't treat my bottom teeth. This is in my opinion false advertising. I asked for a refund for my bottom aligner portion of the treatment plan. They refused and gave me a form to have a dentist to check my teeth before continuing with my treatment. Oddly enough, no dentist wanted to complete this evaluation once I told them it was for Byte. After contacting the company again, I was told by a representative to continue with the top aligners. Even after I explained the problems I have been having. Still did not get the results they guaranteed to this day. I contacted them again, signed a form that states I understand that I am waving the evaluation just so I could talk with them again, asking for a refund. Conveniently they said my treatment should be done and a refund is not possible. I explained to them everything in this previous write up and still they give me the same answer with no solution.Business Response

Started the aligner system, and it did not fix my problem at the end of the specified weeks contacted them. They sent me new aligners. Those aligners did not fit properly and they still did not fix my issue so here I am contacting them again to fix my issue and theyre telling me that I now need to re-enroll and pay an additional $739 although they say they have a Byte for life guarantee and did not mention anything about additional costs when I signed up as everything was paid prior to receiving anything. I am writing to formally file a complaint against Byte Aligners regarding the poor quality and adverse health effects caused by their product, as well as their refusal to issue a full refund despite clear evidence of harm.I purchased Byte Aligners with the expectation of receiving safe and effective orthodontic treatment. However, soon after beginning use, I began to experience gum irritation, significant tooth discomfort, and overall oral health issues. Concerned for my health, I visited a licensed dentist, who evaluated the situation and confirmed that the Byte aligners were the likely cause of my gum and teeth problems. The dentist advised that I discontinue use immediately to prevent further complications.Following this, I reached out to Bytes customer service to report the issues and request a full refund, as I had not only experienced physical harm but also lost trust in the safety and legitimacy of their product. Despite providing dental documentation and clear justification for my request, Byte has refused to honor a full refund, citing policy limitations or disregarding the medical evaluation altogether.This is unacceptable. A company that provides healthcare productsespecially those meant to alter dental structurehas a responsibility to ensure the product is both safe and effective. When harm is caused, they are obligated to take responsibility, not hide behind policy language or make the refund process intentionally difficult.I am requesting a full refund for the Byte Aligners program due to the health complications caused and the abandonment of the treatment plan under professional dental advisement. I got to the end of my treatment but the main area in my bottom teeth that I was trying to fix from the start remains crooked. I reached out to Byte to resolve this and they said they needed specific types of x rays and intra oral scan. I tried to get that from my current dentist but they said they dont work with byte and dont offer those services. The webpage on bytes site to find participating dentists is defunct. Ive reached out twice asking for a list of participating dentists and got no response. There is no customer service telephone number as far as I can tell. So Im just stuck with the debt I incurred to pay for this treatment and no results.Business Response
