I purchased a domain name from Mecca Hosting 20 years ago. They informed me last year (2022- after I renewed my domain) that they will no longer be the domaine registrar since I dont use their hosting services. Not a problem. My problem now is Mecca Hosting will not cooperate with me in switching my domain to a new registrar (even though they say they will no longer support my domain). Why will they not respond?? They have nothing to gain. My domain will expire in April 2023. Ive been trying to get the authorization code from them since mid February 2023 (I started early, knowing they were going to be a problem due to their known incompetence and unprofessionalism). I got nowhere with them after going back and forth for almost 2 months. So I went to Network Solutions (who Mecca Hosting uses to register their domain names). Network Solutions tried to transfer my domain and just recently informed me that they couldnt get a response from Mecca Hosting either and Mecca Hosting is their subcontractor. Mecca Hosting actually rejected Network Solutions request! I paid for the domain, I should be able to transfer it to Network Solutions. This is unacceptable. Mecca Hosting is unethical and shouldnt be in business. Its not a surprise they are not BBB accredited.

We appreciate you taking the time to submit your review, although you are no longer a hosting customer, as you've pointed out. We are a reseller of domains, and as such, have very limited access to manage domain registrations in our system for privacy and security reasons. We have no access to customer information, authcode, or anything related to domain registrations; for this reason, we are quite limited in the services we can offer related to domain registrations. Our system allows a customer to request an authcode and that request is forwarded to the domain registrar on their behalf. The registrar then sends the code which is delivered directly to the customer on the e-mail address that is on-file -- this is an automated process with no human intervention. Frequently, these codes do not arrive because the e-mail the customer is using has spam filters that prevent delivery of those e-mails. We had stated this fact numerous times and asked them to change their e-mail again and again, but the customer did not wish to comply with our instructions, as evidenced by our logs showing that they had not done as we recommended.Unfortunately, there isn't much we have available to assist and it's fortunate that they have reached out to the registrar in this case, since they are the company holding their domain.

Contrary to what Mecca Hosting says in their response, I did provide them with several different email addresses. I didnt receive any emails with my authorization code, even after checking my Spam folder which they instructed me to do (it was like pulling teeth to finally get that bit of information though). When I checked my Spam folder it was never there with any of the email addresses I provided). I checked with Network Solutions who told me that Mecca Hosting hadnt unlocked my domain as they should have and whatever they were doing was done incorrectly. They told me if Mecca didnt know how to go about it, they should contact Network Solutions Customer Support so that they could guide them through it (which Mecca never did). When Mecca finally did unlock my domain, the authorization code was not being forwarded to me. They either provided the wrong email addresses or provided their own email address and not forwarding it to me. Network Solutions told me that Network solutions could not send the Auth Code to me directly since I was not their customer, that ********************** would have to send it to me (which still hasnt happened). I check my Spam folder daily which has spam, but no auth codes. On a side note, Mecca is also responsible for me losing another more desirable domain name that I had several years ago due to poor communication during the time I was using their hosting services (now that domain is for sale for $1,500). This just confirms how unprofessional they are. Its gotten to the point where the only thing I can do now is let my domain expire and hope that its available after it expires. I just want people to be aware of this shady one-man operation.
