Aplewood pricing is OUTRAGEOUS! last Friday I was quoted over $11,000 for a water heater replacement--that is not a typo--over $11,000 for a 50 gallon water heater replacement. I found 2 other quotes under $3500--How do they justify a more than $7000 premium?? I think they are taking advantage of people.Its safe to say I will never call them again. It is the responsibility of a homeowner to do their due diligence and obtain multiple quotes for work from different companies if they are concerned about skills, services, value, and cost differences between businesses, and we encourage all homeowners to do so. Instead of fees for hourly labor and parts, our prices are standardized by the job and set by the company to ensure that all customers pay the same price for the same repair or replacement with us. The total cost of work and any warranties are provided up front and in writing to avoid any surprise charges after the job is completed. We strive to provide the best quality workmanship and customer service with every customer we work with, we do not necessarily strive to be the cheapest competitor in town. We are happy to hear you have found other companies to work with that are better suited to your needs.

The company came out to replace the water heater within hours ON a weekend. The man that came was very nice and got on the work immediately. He did a wonderful job, cleaned up everything afterwards, explained everything to me and showed me everything he did. Vastly overpriced. Three smoke/co detectors installed in less than an hour. I was charged $525+ for each of the first two detectors and $300+ for the third. I have no issue with the quality of service or the competence of the technician. Just be sure to ask a lot if questions before agreeing to a service contract with this company. I was in a time crunch so I signed it. My bad. if you call the company to inquire about the cost, she will tell you that part of the high cost is due to the Fully Equipped Truck that they bring to the site, 99.9 percent of which I had no use for.Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric

We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the installation cost of the smoke/co detectors with the 2-year, 100% parts and labor warranty, completed at your property March 4th. The way that Applewood prices our repair and installation costs is broader than many companies. The total price of work is provided up front and in writing to avoid any surprise charges after the work is completed. Instead of fees for hourly labor and parts, our prices are standardized by the job and set by the company to ensure that all customers pay the same price for the same repair or replacement with us. We do have 3 authorization signatures on file providing consent to the technician to proceed. As such, it appears that the total cost was provided up front, before any work was started, and then authorization was given by you for that work to be completed, while knowing the price in advance.
It is the responsibility of a homeowner to do their due diligence and obtain multiple quotes for work from different companies if they are concerned about skills, services, value, and cost differences between businesses. This research would typically be completed prior to authorizing a company to complete any work at the home, to ensure they are the best choice to meet your expectations, needs, and financial budget. The signed customer authorization states this information clearly, as well.
With that being said, our overall goal is 100% customer satisfaction after each job we complete. Our records indicate that you already called into our office to discuss your concerns, and as a one-time courtesy, we have refunded over $200 of your invoice. Refund(s) are issued within 48 business hours directly to the credit card used for payment of services. We anticipate it reflecting on your account within 7-10 business days. Thank you.B. B.

Yes, this was the lengthy rationalization already given to me by the person who answered my phone call. Thank you for the refund. It was not "over $200". It was $140.53, posted to my credit card on March 14, 2025. Two questions ": (1) Am I to expect the remainder of the "over $200"? (2) If so, how much "over $200"!Review fromBarbara C
