They said I qualified for the national discount program and the customer service person said (over the phone) I should ignore any bills. However they charged me a hook up fee and $15 monthly late charges on it for 6 months. During the time I had service they explained that I would be billed for the mid level of service but I would not be able to get that level of upload/download speeds since the existing infrastructure would not support it. (We live outside of a small town). I assume that way they could bill the government program for more money. I dont know for sure. I cancelled service a few weeks ago before the end of my billing cycle. The customer service person (over the phone) said that I cancelled it before I would get another bill. Here we are 3 weeks later and I have another monthly charge and another $15 late charge.

Centry Link showed up at my workplace trying to get access into our building. They claimed they were there for a scheduled service despite not even being a provider of ours. We do not do business with them, and when we denied access the service representative became hostile.

I have been a CenturyLink customer for over 22 years. When I used a self help tool during an internet outage - it told me I needed a tech to fix my line. When I called CenturyLink they fixed the issue by phone signifying a tech was never actually needed. Even though I cancelled and have an email to prove I did the tech still shows up. CenturyLink puts me through h*** to dispute the $99 for telling the tech the issue was fixed. Mind you, they caused the outage as the issue was fixed by phone support "correcting something on their side". Their online tool misdiagnosed the issue and suddenly they wanted me to be liable for $99 for a tech that was never needed. CenturyLink HQ intentionally read my BBB complaint on the 2nd day and did not respond until day 29. They loved seeing that I wasted hours of my time talking to multiple supervisors screaming in frustration. I have been a CenturyLink customer for over 22 years never missed a payment and that was of zero value to them. I strongly dislike CenturyLink and would not recommend them to anyone. At all. If a different company is available save yourself the headache.

I have had CenturyLink ever since it was originally one of the **** **** companies (************, I believe it was). Originally I had my land line and internet, and in more recent years only internet. I have had persistent internet issues in the last few months and spent many hours attempting to get actual help unsuccessfully, even though I was willing to purchase another router if that would have solved the problem. I also could never successfully "connect" my account online and therefore not properly log in to the app or the website. It said my account number was not valid yet it seems to work fine for paying invoices! Then I thought I should just go find their local office. Two are listed using map services (any of them) online, yet each address is totally bogus! I ended up going to another provider for internet services. I still wanted to cancel my account so that I would be spared the last resort of just not paying any more bills, so today I decided to call and this time ask for help in upgrading my services. Guess what? I got a real person on the phone within about ************************************************************** canceling my service. Now let's see if they send yet another bill. Too bad they are losing customers of more than 25 years just because of horrible customer service and shady practices that did not used to be the case.

Terrible company. They offered me internet for life at $65, then a year later it went to $70, and now it's $75. They do not answer their phones via their customer service number. I am going to drop their service. Please avoid this company

Awful customer service. I had an outage, and they were going to make me wait four days before they would send anyone out to fix it. They continually disconnected me, and then would not let me cancel my service unless I called during business hours.

I signed up on Oct. 7th with CenturyLink for a landline because I need it for my new remote job. A cable technician has NEVER SHOWN UP for SIX appointments in a row to install the landline. Each time an agent has lied to me saying a tech is sure to come between 8AM-5PM. I wait at home the whole day and never hear from the tech. My job is dependent on this landline which I need by the end of the month. CenturyLink is the only landline provider for my area. This is poor service and unacceptable. They can't even move me to the front of the list or make things right for the 6 times no one showed up. CenturyLink will be held responsible if they cost me my job.

This Company has treated me horribly! I have been a good customer who has paid on time every month through Auto Pay. I have not had internet service for more than a year. I kept paying because they said they would fix it. They have not fixed it and the problem has been shown to be on their end. They owe me more than $1200.00. They refuse to reimburse me the money that was taken from my bank account when I paid for services they have not given me. They refuse to call me and talk about this situation. I am middle class. I cannot afford to go with another company now due to money already paid to Century Link. Please help me to get this situation resolved. They refused to even credit my account so I could continue with them provided my Internet was fixed. I cannot afford an attorney. I have given this company more than a year grace *********** can't do it anymore. It's not right to do this to people. I have been a good faithful customer. Please help me.

Second bad experience with CenturyLink...First was several years back, we got up one morning to find no internet service, called them and was told it was shut off for 'illegal activites'. Asked why I wasn't notified, they claimed they had send an email but not to the main email on the account, to the one that was doing the illegal activities. They figured out at that point we'd been hacked and said they MIGHT get it back on in ten days. We replaced them, found that service to be reliable, and switched the office phones and internet to the new carrier. If they can shut off the house with no notice what would happen to my business under those circumstances. Then we moved, and CenturyLink was the only internet available in the new neighborhood so we reluctantly signed up. It was slow, 5M was all that was available, but the service was reliable until we needed TECH SUPPORT.......They sent a new modem, we hooked it up and found that NOTHING wireless would connect. Found you can't call them, you have to chat, so found an old cable, hooked the ** up wireless and started the chat. It took 45 minutes to arrive at the conclusion that it was our devices, not their modem according to the techie. Hooked the old modem back up, everything was instantly back on line. Back on the chat, explain that to the techie and get the same response, they do not send out defective modems and it's our devices. We've moved to a different provider, signed up with 5G and have faster service at a better price and all is now well.
