Bought a new engine with (allegedly) 33K miles on it.
once it arrived, owner refused to deliver any proof or documentation on the miles of the engine. typically one gets a MOT certificate or at least an official receipt from seller. he wont even divulge the seller.

The $$ I spent now no longer add any value to the car. total job was 7k with labor install at another shop when he couldn't deliver on doing the job either. this means i cannot sell the car for any increased value over the 144k miles now on it. i have no way to prove value to ta future buyer.

I can understand why Mr. ***** might feel the way he does. It did take longer than anticipated
to find a suitable engine for his car. In fact I had to find one in Arizona and have it shipped here
by freight. That being said, the following is what actually happened with Mr. *****:

Mr. ***** brought in his 2014 Volkswagen Jetta for service and repair. He claimed he knew
what was wrong and told me what we needed to do to fix it. After diagnosing the problem we
found that the #2 spark plug had been previously repaired by another shop and the repair was
substandard. We ran a compression test that showed there was no compression in the #2
cylinder. After discussing all of his options he authorized us to install a used engine in the car. I
looked around for a suitable used engine and after a couple of weeks I was able to locate an
engine. The supplier stated that the engine had less than 40,000 miles on it (actually stated
that it had 33,000 miles). After inspecting the engine and informing the customer that we
could install the engine and complete the repair, he stated that the car had been here too long
and he picked up the car without notifying us and took it to another shop to finish the repair.
At no time did I ever state or indicate that we were unable to complete the repair. He also
demanded to see the invoice for the used motor with the mileage stated on it within 30 days
“or else….” After contacting the supplier they did some research and were finally able to
provide the invoice for the engine but without the mileage listed on it. Mr. ***** was very
unreasonable and threatening with his demands even though we did everything we could to
help him out. I also find it hard to understand how diagnosing a vehicle that had a check engine
light on and wouldn’t run properly when he brought it in, finding what was wrong and
obtaining a suitable engine so the car would operate properly, didn’t add any value to the car.
Also we have been accredited with the Better Business Bureau since 2011 and currently have
    an A+ rating.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Mistatements of fact. Foreign aid had no  no eta when they could do the job. He complained he didnt have enough workers. I empathized. He was never threatened in any way shape or form. No ETA and an unruly attitude was the reason for taking the engine elsewhere.  They wouldnt even help load it into the tow driver. Said they were trying to hire and had an ad on their shop sign (still there as of now) They put several cars in ahead of me. Not being able to prove mileage because foreign aid  took or created out of whole cloth a verbal claim from an unkown junk yard dealer is completely unaccepptable to spend my 3+ thousand dollars on. That irresponsible act costs me many thousands in injury and provable car value as I have no way to prove low mileage to any potential buyer.

    Regards,
