      I called Grand Lake Plumbing and Heating to solve a water leak issue. They told me I would be told costs upfront (as outlined on all of their documents) before anything was done. I explained to the two guys that showed up all of the trouble shooting I had performed to solve the water leak. They did the same things without really doing anything new or different. They were there for less than an hour. And then said they couldn't solve it. I was then told that they wouldn't charge me for doing any work (which made sense since they didn't do anything) and that they would just charge me a diagnostic fee. (Which they didn't inform me up front as promised and instead only told me at the end.) My total bill for being there less than an hour and not solving anything or doing any work was $481.43. When I asked for an itemized bill they said they didn't do that. But I was able to figure out their diagnostic fee as the service visit fee is $69.99. Meaning their diagnostic fee + tax for less than an hour is $411.44! Sharing this information so everyone is informed and can make their own educated decision before using this company. I have been told by other contractors in Grand County that Grand Lake Plumbing and Heating coordinates with others to price fix. My experience is a data point that causes me to believe this. But use your own judgement.
