      Empower web site has problems frequently. To day (05/28/2023) I tried to log into my 401k account, entered all information correctly twice, first time was rejected, second time was told to enter more personal info to verify, then told me to choose text/emai/call on their stored list, no matter what I chose, the wensite displayed: unable to send the code. This is not the first time I had trouble to log into my account. If I don't log into my account frequently, I have similar trouble, This company really ****** a 0 star rating or negative 5 starts.

      Where do I begin? Empowerment, has poor customer service, longer wait time on the phones from 45 plus minutes. The representative has limited access to the system once you are verified for the 3rd time. They can never find a solution or be able to resolve a problem and they are useless. I made a request for a Financial hardship/unforeseeable emergency withdrawal. I was approved and found out that my payment would be sent via regular mail. Why would you ask me initially on the application. Where do you want your payment and sent it via email. Also, you must have your account in the system for approximately 15 days. To receive your money as an ACH to your account. They have ZERO solutions or considerations based on your situation. If they would only be willing to help you based on your urgency and immediate need. This is the second time I have had issues with EMPOWER. They are careless about your situation and don't know how to resolve issues. I have invested in this company with my employer for years now. I hope my company can realize that EMPOWER is careless and incompetent to trust in a time of need. HORRIBLE!!!!!

      I was denied a hardship withdrawal because of paperwork!!! Im gonna lose my home but they dont care if my family goes homeless !!! Ignorance and heartless. I have a special needs child to jag offs!! I really wish I can switch to a different company.I wish I had the option for no stars DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!Horrible customer service Horrible people skills I hope they a rot in $&@@

      Worst Company I have ever had to deal with. For over 2 yrs now I have been trying to withdraw my money due to my disability. They state they never received the multiple faxes my doctor has faxed to them, so I tried to upload the forms to their website. Because of my disability I wrote something wrong and crossed it out. Now they won't accept that because of it. Hopefully someday I will get MY money out of that account.

      Criminals! Empower Retirement will hold your 401k retirement money for ******! I left the company I was working for that used Empower 401k services. So called Empower to transfer my 401k over to my personal **** They told me that I can NOT get my money if I don't give them $50 to process a check for my money. This is extortion in every criminal way! This is not common practice at all. This is criminal activates.

      I have been unable to log in my account fir weeks. Called 8 times with no customer service assistance. There is no email that I can find. Very frustrated customer. I give a zero!

      It's time for Empower to retire. There's no reason for any consumer or institution aiming to be a good ******* of finances to entrust them with their funds. When you experience the market's alternatives, you'll know why. They can't offer the quality nor variety of funds available through other providers(such as Vanguard, Fidelity, ******) and the fees are excessive by today's standards. I dug deep to find their value. It's not there. The online portal doesn't allow users to monitor and manage money, which is critical in today's economy. Their competitors allow you to do more on a phone than Empower lets you see, much less transact, on a desktop. Empower admits they care about companies, 401k clients, more than individual investors.That service is flawed, too, a fact acknowledged by financial advisors, including one of their own. They can't hide behind a 401k plan anymore. They must conduct transparent, accessible, responsive, paperless customer interaction. So, what are they good at? Count on them to consumer your time for diminishing returns. They're great at depleting resources that can earn more elsewhere. They're best-in-class at making it hard to transfer funds to another bank! (Allow **** weeks to withdraw your money from an ***** They're great at wasting their talent and technology, using offline systems that minimize online access. I can't name a single institution that's better at killing trees by relying on mounds of paper forms, postcard notices, a defunct portal, and untimely snail mail. Make no mistake. Empower is outdated, but they're not stupid. These time and labor- intensive processes are well-designed to discourage people from moving their funds. It was so difficult to transfer two IRAs, it almost worked on me. Don't let their processes bully you into complacency, and depleting the value of your hard-earned dollars. Move your money. The sooner you do, the more time, money(and trees)you will save.

      They are absolutely horrible to work with. I would avoid at all cost. Their website portal does not have anywhere to correspond. I have been attempting to roll over a 401K for weeks. Every time I submit the request they find an issue with it and reject it without contacting you. Then they expect you to call back and wait on hold for 20 minutes daily just to find out there is another issue...I will never do business with them again...

      The company I work for was sold and our accounts are being closed. We have the option to roll over or cash out for a 10% fee, state and federal taxes. BUT, no one has gotten the same information or paperwork to do either. Having dealt with this for 2 months 90% of us are choosing to cash out. Again, no one at Empower has or wants to help after finding out what I want to do. They either suddenly become disconnected, cant hear or lie. One of my last calls I wanted to know if my documents were received and a lady named S_y huffed as she was asked to look. She became upset when I asked if they had my email to contact me. She told me that they had in fact gotten my docs and were waiting to be looked at and someone would contact me. She repeated this line over and over every question I asked .. my next call (nicer lady) I was told they had not received any docs and I probably didnt have the right ones. Ive got the ones 3 ppl sent and have uploaded per instructions I would not recommend using Empower for any reason. The fees are to high for the amount of money I have lost over the past couple years. Buy precious metals, food or property. You might be concerned with who owns them as well.

      Terrible.1 hour on hold one day. 45 the next, 30 minutes today and cant lookup my request which takes 5 minutes.Run away!
