I am out $115.60 because Big Berkey Water Filters refuses to take responsibility for their poor choice of courier: OnTrac. I never received my filters and Ontrac has no proof that the items were delivered and reroutes me to Big Berkey WF, who could care less about individuals. **************** uses tactics to "shut down" those whose money they have stolen, and dismisses all frustration due to being scammed. Confirming that their customer service position at ********************** is to maintain the fraud. They are a gatekeeper of deception, not customer service "*********************** are a substandard filter sold using dishonest if not outright fraudulent marketing claims." Reddit I should have listened to all the reviews, and the NYTimes article: "The Big Berkey Water Filter System: Uncertified and Inconvenient"

I've had black Berkey filters over the years and primed and used them with no problem and no white residue or cloudy water. My new travel Berkey and set of 2 black filters are producing a white layer of milky residue in the bottom chamber and cloudy water. I've repeated priming and used three methods of priming them. I've gone through 10 + cycles of priming and filtering a full chamber. I have also let the filters dry and reprimed them. The water is not less cloudy. There is a large amount of whte film in the bottom chamber. I don't understand how I was able to prime and get clear water easily with past Berkey filters from the same water source. The red dye test shows clear water when detached from the bottom chamber and then cloudiness and the white milky substance on the bottom chamber returns when the bottom chamber is reattached. Bigberkeywaterfilters.com said they cannot except a full return because the black filters have been primed. How do you find this obvious defect in the filters if you don't prime them? This is a persistent problem with these black berkey filters and distributors and Berkey are aware. There have been numerous reviews on Reddit with customers stating the same claim. I would like this resolved with a full refund for the entire system. Bigberkeywaterfilters.com state they won't refund the black filters even though they are defective but will send more (defective filters) filters to you. Customer reviews state more ********************** from the same company did not resolve the cloudy water and white film. This company wants a 15% restocking fee and delivery charges for the container only and refuse to refund the expensive defective filters too. It may be for different reasons but I understand why ********** and other states have banned Berkey sales, something isn't right and Berkey doesn't stand by their products. Shipment and Order number on request.

Hi ******* -The ** ban is not due to filter performance but rather due to classification as indoor systems require high payment fees to the state to allow the ability to sell them there. Most customers who experience cloudy water is due to the ***2 filters. Others are due to using softening water, or the source of their water. Some details here: "Cloudy water coming out of Black Berkey Elements is very rare. The reported rate of Black Berkey Elements producing cloudiness in their water is extremely small at approximately *****% (far less than 1%). Given that NMCL was not able to replicate the reported issues, which occurred in an extremely limited number of geographic areas, we can only conclude that the issues are related to something found in the individual water supplies serving those area."Given that you have used the filters before and cloudiness was not the case (assuming you ere using the same source water in the past), then the filters may simply require more system flushes as they are passing the red food coloring test. If you are not wanting to go that route, the warranty will replace these filters free of charge, Out of our customers sales in the past year we have not heard of any similar customer issues so we know this is not a filter issue and that you can be confident that replacement filters would solve your problem.

I bought all filters. Black and fluoride. Spent 250 on them and cannot get a response or new filter no one answers the phones. The water is solid chemical. Does not taste like water. So bad I'm afraid to even give this water to my plants though they arw house plants. I do not want to poison my plants. It's another example of American greed gone awry.

This filtration system is great if you can get the filters replaced. Specifically the fluoride filters. It is absolutely maddening to NEVER be able to get them, and customer service just ignores you if you say this always happens. This hurts to review them like this, but it is true. They have a great system, but if it can't get enough replacement parts, it's time to choose another that can, which I'm going to have to do.

Hi ******* - There is a worldwide shortage of the media used in the fluoride filters. The company is continually attempting to find other sources, however at this point in time, supply is still very limited and hence why a shortage of the fluoride filter availability. Thanks ***
