DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. If I could give them negative 10 stars I would. This company is deceitful and hides behind a disclosure in their "terms and conditions". They run auctions that are advertised as "jewelry estate auctions" selling "gold, diamonds, ******* etc", test the gold and diamonds but don't do a simple rub test to determine if pearls are real or just glass beads. When I called the company today the man literally started screaming at me like a maniac. When I told him I'm glad I was recording the conversation he kept yelling that I should read the "terms and conditions". His "terms" also state that the photographs are part of the description however a photograph does not show if something is fake HOWEVER his title and description DO IMPLY that the glass beads are actual pearls.
On Saturday, June 15, 2024 I participated in an action run by this company.
"A Cut Above -June Estate Jewelry Auction - All Gold - Diamonds - ******* - Shipping Only”
In that auction I bid on a strand of "pearls" that were listed as
“14K Yellow Gold Pearl Necklace 23".
    "Item Description
This lot consists of a beautiful necklace. It has a marked 14 K Gold clasp. The necklace features Pearls that measure approx. 8 mm in diameter. The necklace is approx. 23" in length.
    Condition
    Consistent with age and use.”
There were 39 bids on this item. Clearly I was not the only person that was deceived into believing that these were "pearls" as noted in title and description. As the seller I feel it is their responsibility to correctly advertise the items they are selling. It is my responsibility as the buyer to examine the photographs to ensure the condition is to my standard. From photographs there is no way to determine that these were not pearls as stated in listing & description. The photos show a strand of "pearls" which are individually tied with what is advertised as a 14kt gold clasp.

This company is a scam. I got scammed like so many others. This business needs to be investigated.

Clearing House Estate Sales has a 1.73/5 and an F rating on the Better Business Bureau and it is no surprise why. They do not provide accurate descriptions of their items, have delayed or non-existent communication with their bidders, and charge whatever they feel like for shipping at your expense. They even block unhappy bidders to prevent accurate reviews of their business and remove reviews on online auction websites to protect their image!
Do not give this company your money and AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I bought a car from Clearing House Estate Sales. During the bidding process, one bidder kept bidding against himself which was fishy. I asked the auction manager James C**** what that might be about, and he downplayed my concern and said it was a design bug in the software and bids were being placed up to another buyer’s maximum bid. (This did not make sense) Nevertheless, I kept bidding because I needed an affordable car.
I won the auction for this car. When I picked up the car, the seller mentioned that his adult son had been driving it. I immediately noticed the interior of the car was covered in marijuana dust. The car was so low on oil that I had to pull over and refill the oil immediately on the drive home. The car broke down on a bridge within 9 days, and the mechanic who towed me and looked at the car said it never should have been sold to me. The car continued to make unsettling mechanical sounds when I drove it and a new light on the dash was constantly popping up. After putting $1800 of repairs into the car, I heeded my mechanic’s advice to junk it.
I think a greedy Connecticut doctor (and his pothead adult son) wanted to squeeze value out of their used car that definitely should had been junked. Clearing House Estate Sales helped them do so.

The customer in question purchased the **** *** *rom our auction on March 14th 2023, more than six months a year and a half ago. As noted multiple times in the description this vehicle was sold with 185,906 miles and the following condition notes:
Owners comments: the struts (to hold up hood) under the hood will need to be replaced; trunk auto open latch needs attention but will open with a key; rear tires were replaced within the past six months; car was originally purchased and is serviced by ****** *** which included general maintenance (service records are not available); vehicle starts and runs as expected; new brake lines were replaced within the past year; the owner says there are some computer issues though none were visible during auction manager inspection; front tires have low tread and will need replacement depending on usage; like any used vehicle there are some age consistent wear marks, marks and scratches; rubber front and back window outer seals will need attention; the rear driver seat has a stain, interior is all leather, radio works, as do wipers, seat warmers, heat, lights, a/c not tested, sun roof not tested, low tire and oil lights are on, front driver & passenger seats are automatic, airbags included, cruise control not tested, automatic raise and lower steering wheel, automatic wipers, with the exception of dust the vehicle appears to be clean and is drivable.

I auctioned items from my mother’s estate. I received payment from Clearinghouse but was shocked when the check bounced. I sent all proof about this to a not so friendly person-I was made to feel as though I did something wronginstead of them. After 2 weeks I received another check. I deposited it. Today I received notice that there was a stop payment put on this check and again the funds Were taken out of my account. When I called clearing house I was told the original check had cleared. They knew this because their accountant said so.. I’m not sure who the accountant is but she was very wrong and she should know how to check that! got a letter from my bank stating that neither check had cleared. I am now waiting for payment. I am extremely unhappy about this and don’t feel I should have to go through this. If this isn’t resolved within a week, my attorney is going to get involved. Basically this is stealing. They took money for items that were sold and never paid me for them.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Clearing House, having bought at many many sales of theirs over the years. Pickups can sometimes be challenging, but that's the case for all estate sale and estate auction services, and Clearing House has always made sure that I was satisfied with my items prior to leaving.

    Very poor customer service
On Tues April 11th 2023 I participated in the auction * ********* ****** * I had requested the standard 10 minute notification alert offered by CHES and as the auction progressed I received several notifications on items which I bid on and won .
Then several hours after the auction ended , I received 10 ( ! ) alerts notifying me of items ending soon .
This of course was absolutely useless to me as the items had been sold and the auction was over .
After calling the auction manager ( who shall remain namelss ) AND CHES directly , I was offered no explanation and told there was " nothing they could do " . Understandable as the items had been sold .
I was also told it was possible for me to speak to the auction manager about " unclaimed or abandoned " items .
Now , in order to meet my obligation , I had to make a 150 mile round trip to pick up the 2 items I had won .
The items were located at a residential address which I had been to before so I gather that it was not a situation where they were helping to clean out a newly acquired estate , but were selling abandoned or forfeited items from previous auctions or they had moved an entire estate to a " retail " location and hosted from there .
It does not matter to me where the items came from - it does matter that no explanation for the communication breakdown was given , there has been no response to my email asking for information nor has there been any attempt by CHES to assure me that my business is valued .
I am probably blocked from bidding at this point but it really doesn't matter as their company's attitude towards customers is pretty cavalier and I doubt I do business with them in the future .
    P.S.
I had to give them a star to leave this review .
In reality they are a zero star company .

If I could leave a negative Star review for this company, I would. Long story, short, we bought a vehicle from them with the ad that said runs great. We picked up the car with a broken windshield. Brought to our auto mechanic who said the car isn’t worth the amount it would take to get it to pass inspection. We tried contacting them and got the run around. We finally called our credit card company and they fought the purchase. We were reimbursed. They have yet to pick up the vehicle 5 month later and still being insured by us after multiple times that the car would be picked up. Horrible business practices.

The Auction prices usually sell way below value!
For instance, I had a beautiful gold leaf China set. With serving dishes. It sold for $1.00.
Clearing House Estates, Bridgeport issued a check to me dated 9/30/22 and the check bounced! I was charged bank fees. They have not issued another check, I have called them numerous times. They haven’t called me back. Nothing! Very poor business,
My bank suggested I call the police department.
    It’s going into another month.
