USA v. Tarek Abou-Khatwas
The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the governments allegations, which have not yet been proven.
On March 20, 2018, The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia filed an Indictment in U.S. District Court against Tarek Abou-Khatwa, also known as Dean Addem, who is the owner of The Igia Group. Charges filed allege Abou-Khatwa is in violation of numerous federal laws including health care fraud, false statements relating to healthcare matters, wire and mail fraud, and identity theft. It is claimed that Abou-Khatwa converted for personal uses in excess of $2 million in illegal proceeds by falsifying employer censuses to receive lower quotes from an insurance carrier, then altering the carriers' invoices to his clients with inflated charges. The matter is pending.
