Beware of Pepco's Budget Billing. On 1/1/24 I enrolled in budget billing, the amount I was to pay was $332. According to the instructions of enrolling in budget billing you can enroll any time, your bill is based on actual usage from previous year; your bill is reviewed, adjustment made between the 7th and 10th month and the budget bill is adjusted; after 12 months (1 year) any credit/debit balances will be included in the calculation for the following year's budget. Unfortunately, this is not true. As stated, I enrolled in January. I received my June bill stating "start date (enroll in budget billing) January 2024, end date June 2024", my amount I was to pay was $601.32 instead of $332. I was confused, since budget billing states, "If you prefer consistent, predictable monthy payments throughout the year that eliminates monthly or seasonal variation..." When I wrote to ***** *********, VP of Customer Operations, I received an mail from ***** ******* who sent me a snapshot of Pepco's regulation concerning budget billing. I asked for this information to be made available in the budget billing instructions so that consumers could make informative decisions. To date, this information has not been added. Who can enforce Pepco to change the language of budget billing to reflect that it depends when you enroll in order that you receive a full year of budget billing service?

On 9/2/24, I noticed that Pepco has honored my request to change/update their language regarding "Budget Billing". Thank you. However, in updating/changing the Budget Billing language, it appears that Pepco has retaliated in that I was disenrolled out of budget billing without notice. Budget billing clearly states, "disenrollment automatically occurs when a customer misses 2 payments....". I have not missed any payments and/or was not late in making payments. I would appreciate it if Pepco would explain why I was disenrolled out of budget billing without notice. Please make no changes without prior notification.

I have been without power for almost 3 weeks. I have been contacting PEPCO regarding ridiculous high bill of $10,000. Each person I spoken with I've gotten different information. I have paid $4000 and MD Dept of Energy has paid $4061 and PEPCO still won't restore service until another $2600 is paid and this is after a representative told me I would have to pay $3224 to have service restored. I'm also being told that a third party has accumulation charges which I never signed up for. I take care my 73 year mother whom health is not the best which resides with me. This inhumane act needs to be resolved. I've been waiting on a call back from a supervisor which I haven't received a call yet.

We are empathetic to the consumer’s current life challenges. Our records indicate a less than satisfactory payment history. Service was disconnected for nonpayment on October 13, 2023, and a final bill has been issued for services rendered to October 22, 2023 in the amount of $10,697.32. After deducting pledge amount of $4,061.00 from the Office of Home Energy Program (OHEP) on November 2, 2023, and consumer payment of $4,000.00 submitted on November 16, 2023, a balance of $2,636.32 remains. Subsequent to the utility’s disconnection, the utility found meter tampering conditions at the premise, which resulted in disconnection, as service should be off until the payment requirements have been satisfied. As a result of payment history and meter tampering conditions, full payment of the outstanding balance must be satisfied prior to service reconnection. The utility’s position has not changed. We appreciate the consumer’s feedback, which has been shared with leadership. Also, the consumer filed a complaint with the Maryland Public Service Commission regarding this matter and the utility will provide a response to the Commission.

      I live in ***** ****** **** ***** ***** ******** ** *****.
Last week Pepco service men shoed up in my front yard and started digging a big hole on the ground.. Upon asking they said it is for the neighbor's house. However, I Was not given any prior intimation about this and work and I had an outdoor event planned last weekend. I asked them to stop because. The pepco workers somehow hastily filled the dug up hole leaving loose dirt all over the area. I brought this to the attention of Pepco in their website for
      1) Why I was not informed prior to the servicemen started digging up a hole in my property
      2) Who should I contact to fill the hole properly ?
I have not received any response

In brief: On May 7, 2021, we had a house fire that displaced my mom and me from her home. It was an electrical fire, therefore all electricity to the house was disconnected. The electricity remains disconnected until the code inspectors determine that codes are met, and no safety issues exist. Unfortunately, contractor delays have kept that from happening. Out of habit, we kept paying the bill until August 2021. I called PEPCO to let them know something was wrong. We were receiving bills with actual readings and comparisons to homes like mine and my use from the previous year. ALL OF THIS IS UNTRUE. After speaking to several representatives who told me the readings were true and that we must continue to pay - I was transferred to a representative who was able to see the account usage and let me know that PEPCO had no way to stop the billing and that no action (to include disconnection) would be taken against the account. This week after several disconnection notices, we received a notice from a collection agency. I called again to explain and was told that because we hadn't called to turn off the service, we were responsible for all billing to date. The representatives stated that the balance would need to be paid before services would be restored.
They allege that we did not let them know about the fire, therefore we are responsible for all the billing to date. Billing for WHAT??? We are willing to pay the fees to keep the account open, not for actual readings for a house with no plugs.
We remain displaced, no one lives in the home, NOTHING is in use, and the power inside the home remains off until cleared by the County.
Because of this, my rating is 0/5 but 1/5 is the minimum allowed.
