1 starMy wife signed up for an account. Changed employment. They sent a renewal email to previous work email and did not call or contact through any other means (the email was rejected as the account did not exist). They went from a fixed rate to a 'variable rate' without any communication. MY last three bills in Washington DC have been $575, $1050, $984 - for a row home in DC. I Called cleanchoice and they were charging me a .29 per kw rate and offered me a new rate immediately of .11. I told them I did not wish to do business with a company that has ripped me off of more than $5000 and that clearly has deceptive business practices. Just horrible - and my spouse WORKS IN RENEWABLE ENERGY. Find another supplier - this company is a complete scam.Review fromJON V.

Awful. Their electric must be made of gold since it costs a fortune. Good hedge against inflation, too, since mostly rises.
When I signed up, the rate was modestly higher than what Pepco had been charging, but OK, for the good of the environment. I just tracked 24 months of bills (not available beyond that, apparently). KWH Rates:
$ 0.16600 in Oct. 2021
$ 0.18400 in Nov. 2021
$ 0.21000 in Dec. 2021
$ 0.23700 in Jan 2022
$ 0.36000 in Dec. 2022
$ 0.39700 in Jan 2023
In all, about twice what I had been paying. Meanwhile, the environment has gotten worse. Back to Pepco for me.

I have been a customer with clean choice energy for a while now. My bill doubled.at some point I do not recall receiving a notification, but that is allowed by eversource my electric company. why would a longterm client be charged double when there is a rate that is lower on the book. I am really amazed I was paying 34.4C/Kwh when they have 17.7C/Kwh listed on their site. need less to say I travel alot and have not been paying attention to this bill that is paid on line but not very happy. I also see prices by other suppliers that are as low as 11 and 10C/ Kwh.
it seems this is everyone's concern so I am requesting some explanations.

I am currently paying the most I have ever paid for bills in the City of Chicago. My bill is 189 dollars MORE than last year, with only a 2% increase. They also told me when I canceled, that there was a processing error and I will be charged STILL. I find this hard to believe since I called TWICE TO CANCEL. In total, I would now be paying (with Comed added) around 1000 dollars for THREE months worth of electricity. IT IS A SCAM.CleanChoice Energy Inc

Our records indicate you initially signed up on a 12 month fixed rate program. We offer a variety of plans, both variable and fixed, to meet the different needs of our customers. We receive new rate plans every month and are always more than happy to review them with our customers at any time. Reviewing your account, your two most recent supply charges reflect that your electricity usage had drastically increased. Your normal usage range was anywhere from 246 - 450 kWh per month, whereas your two most recent months were 1278 and 1330 kWh respectively. In this instance, the usage increase was the sole factor that attributed to the rise in cost. Your rate per kWh unit of energy used remained the same, as per your terms and conditions. We do show you also reached out to our customer service team and we explained the increased usage as well as offered a lower rate, but ultimately you declined. Reviewing your account, we show that it has been cancelled as requested and have confirmed a cancellation date of 10/2/23. This will serve as the drop date from CleanChoice Energy. In order to continue on a new fixed rate plan for another 12 month period, your approval is required. Failing to respond to the latest renewal offer converts the plan to a variable (market) rate, as outlined in your terms and conditions.
