On August 14, 2022 I won an online auction facilitated thru Hibid website. Ryans Auctions were the seller. With buyer premium and insured shipping the total was $4085 for a Michael Jordan rookie card they were selling to me. They claimed that paying by Paypal it may take up to 30 days for money to clear. I wanted the item much sooner and they said a check would be faster. On 8/22/22 they cashed my check for $4085. Weeks went by and on August 31st they said they hadn't shipped card yet. September 9th they said card was on its way and should be arriving soon. They said it was sent USPS but couldn't ever provide tracking number. September 26th they said they told Hibid about the order mistake and will get me a full refund asap. After months of me contacting Ryans and Hibid they finally mailed me $500 in February 2023. As of 7/26/23 I have not received any more money from them. They say they will pay me, but never do. All they need to do is pay me $3585 and its over. I have been more than patient with them, but this is unacceptable behavior from a seller that has essentially stolen $3585 from me for a year. I just want them to do the right thing and pay me in full at once. They said this happened to other customers as well.

Hello Customer Complaint is not a Valid Ccomplaint..All items are solkd as is with no guarantees as stated when you signup and register to agreed terms.Secondly buyer purchased this card knowing they were taking a chance because the listing stated that the item could indeed be a reprint that it was being sold that way with no guarantees.Thirdly buyer called we spoke on phone and again he was reminded that the card could be reprint. We are not card experts we are just an auction company. No items are sold with any warranty again when this buyer signed up he accepted and read the terms and conditions of the auction.I have provided all info the buyer terms and conditions and the listing. Thanks

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my complaint and have determined that this does not resolve my  issue.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I received the response and I would like to respond to that.

I bid on this card and didn't see the fine print  regarding reprint caveat.   After I won the auction and I called and questioned him about the reprint notice afterwards.  He said he did that to cover his backside.  After I received the actual card and verified by other collectors of it's obvious fake history I tried calling and leaving messages many times with never a response.  I thought I was dealing with an honest auction.  I called alot auctions and they said they would never list a card if they knew there was any question of authenticity.  My question is why put a card in knowingly a reprint? It's fraudulent activity.  All I'm asking is he man's up and makes it right and hope to not have this happen to anyone else.

    Sincerely,

    Regards,

As stated all Items are sold as is.The Card was listed that it was possibly a reprint. We are an auction not card experts. The buyer was able to read the terms before bidding but decided in bidding anyway..We did not force him to bid on the itemm. He then called next day wanting card shipped before his check cleared and asked if there was a way to have card authenticated.Meaning he knew he was taking a chance.Further more if this card was a real card he would not have got it for a couple hundred dollars he would have had to pay over 20k.Again we are not at fault here in any way.Buyer had the oppurtunity to call before bidding he did not, buyer can ask for more pictures he did not, buyer can come look at item in person and he did not.I can understand the buyer is frustrated that the card must not of been real but thats why it was listed that way again we are not card experts so we did not guarantee it in anyway.Item was represented correctly. This is not fraud. There is no diffrence for example if the buyer was at a live auction saw this card and buys it but then finds out it was a reprint or fake..You think that auction is going to refund you?? No they are not responsible all items are always sold as is unless they are specified to be something and authenticated. In this case nothing was guaranyee it clearly says that.
